Spotted this Melocactus matanzanus in late 2018 for cheap on the sidewalk in Chinatown before it had shown signs of a cephalium. Here it is now in 2022, and another pic from early 2019

Matucana madisoniorum two different ways. I’m always impressed by how different individual plants of this species can look. The first photo is the spineless form which could easily be confused with a Lophophora. The second and third image is M. madisoniorum var. albiflora, known for its white flowers, rather than the usual red.
