I first came to Yuksom in 2013, and that’s when I tasted a traditionalSikkimese thali for the very first time.
It was cooked by a very sweet lady at the Red Palace Hotel,who we called Chungphuti Aunty .She cookedthe meal on wood fire,with the kind of patience one doesn’t see anymore.
Years have passed. Auntie is no longer with us,taken too soon during those difficult COVID days.
But today I am in Yuksom and I have ordered this meal to honour her,her hands,her patience and her sweetness.
