FoUNd Object R:If absurdity can ease the pain 如果荒诞可以减轻痛苦 2025.3.29 Knife, Clown nose The other day I bought bunch of clown noses. I pray that my embodied pain can be like a clown’s performance, that all the clumsiness and misfortune is just an act, and what it brings people isn’t reflection, isn’t sympathy, isn’t sadness, but laughter. 那天 我买了一堆小丑鼻子,我祈求我具像化的痛苦可以和小丑一样,那些笨拙和倒霉只是表演,它们会给人带来的不是思考,不是同情,不是难过,是欢笑。 #foundobjectbyecho

Susannah Goodman @sgoodpottery x Echo(Qinyu) Huan @echo_huan Rituals of Remembering, 2026 Fiber: 4 pieces of 27 x 27 inches, Digital Jacquard(TC2) Handwoven Cotton and Polyester-Cotton, Wood Ceramic: Wheel-thrown and altered mid-range stoneware with glaze, artist-made laserjet decals and vintage chinapaint decals, fired to cone 5 oxidation Found objects: masonry from Busy Bee Hardware building in Eastern Market, Detroit Collaboration Statement In this installation, we document the passage of time in two ways: the process of building and the process of decay. Inside the vessel is a drawing of Busy Bee Hardware, a legacy family business established in 1918 and closed in 2017. The building, adorned with hand-painted signs, decays in plain sight under speculator ownership at a major intersection near Detroit’s Eastern Market. Fallen bits of the facade sit around the base of the vessel. Echo has documented the creation of the vessel at four stages, translating them into jacquard loom weavings. Through fiber, installation, and tactile processes, Echo explores randomness, observation, and association as methods of seeing and feeling more closely. Susannah uses the permanence of ceramic vitrification to memorialize places in Detroit which she loves, are in decay, or have been lost to demolition. @ceramics_x_fiber #nceca #nceca2026
