(2/3) Pre-build across the street from Berghain as Berlin was still waking up from lockdown. This commissioned sculpture, measuring over 60 feet (19m), is my largest public artwork to date. We conducted a half-build to test all the hardware before shipping it out for final installation. The structure is constructed with 40 panels of laser-cut, powder-coated 3mm steel featuring mechanical connections and custom-designed hardware. The content of the Arabic is a poem written by Al-Mutanabbi, a famous poet of the Abbasid era in Arabia. The text can be read in multiple directions, from the ground up and ceiling down to the central apex, allowing you to discover meaning from multiple perspectives.
