A little teaser for the Kyoshi shoot I did with @linkelizzy last weekend. I can’t get over how Lizzy managed to find the strength to get up at 3:30 to put on the cosplay so we could catch the sunrise, while I could do nothing but offer moral support (read: be annoying) and struggle to make coffee for us.

As we were planning this shoot, I made a moodboard as I always do, and while I knew I was probably setting myself up for failure, I included a lot of inspiration ideas that relied heavily on natural mist or fog and that specific golden sunrise - something that we just had to cross our fingers and hope for.
We had just captured a couple of shots during blue hour when we turned around and saw the sun rising through the trees, looking LIKE THAT. Like moths to a flame, we RAN to the spot between the trees while I yelled at Lizzy “WALK PRETTY” and just starting clicking away.

In the early hours of the morning, just as we were about to head off, it almost seemed like we wouldn’t be able to do the shoot after all.
We were supposed to bike there and had timed it perfectly so we’d arrive just in time for the sunrise, but as I tried to hop up on the bike, we quickly realized that I was too short for it. And it wasn’t like just a little bit too short, but in a “yeah, I will definitely crash and get seriously hurt” kind of short.
We frantically tried to fix it, but nothing worked and we couldn’t find the right tools and the sky got brighter and brighter, and eventually Lizzy suggested maybe we should just drop it, and I just went "NO. I’LL SIT BEHIND YOU."
So I clenched my butt cheks and sat behind Lizzy on her bike, and somehow we fucking made it in time to catch both the blue hour and the sunrise. I don’t know how we managed to get that lucky.
Now I have a new thing on my shoot prep list: always check your mode of transporation the day before, especially when it’s not yours 🫡

We were setting up the shot for Jester and Fjord to play cards, and I was trying to lay a couple of cards in the foreground to make it seem like a third player was there, so the inn would feel more alive. I was wondering out loud if we could use the shoulder of someone to make it feel more crowded and then we all looked at @stormfyre_cosplay , who was there as our awesome assistant, and realized that their jacket was not only period-appropriate, but that their hair, when worn down, made them look like Caleb 🥳

When we arrived on location, the valley was filled with clouds, but about 10 minutes later someone yelled that they were dissapearing, so I RAN to the structure and began snapping away. I was the only photographer at the time, so I did my best to get some solo shots as well before all the clouds dissapeared 🥲
