My dad sent me a photo of a clock I made in 7th grade shop class… never finished it back then, but he kept all the pieces and finally put it together. It immediately took me back—the smell of the burning wood on the jigsaw or drill press… making something with my hands. I forgot how much I loved that. Wood shop and metal shop were my favorite classes—right up there with photography. Man, I miss the smell of that dark room. Yeah, I’m creative every day for work and at home… but this felt different. It made me stop and think—what do I do just for me? I started looking around for something like wood shop and found a Baltimore co-op… but I’m not quite ready to jump all the way in there yet, so I figured I’d start a little closer to home. Today that meant a glass workshop at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. It was a quick intro to mosaic glass cutting. I had bigger plans (don’t we always), but with the time we had, I kept it simple—my version of a sunset on the water. Cut it, placed it, glued it… now it gets fired and shaped, and I’ll see it again in a couple weeks. No pressure, no client work, no end goal—just trying something new because I wanted to. I start pottery wheel classes on Tuesday… and I might be eyeing wood turning next. Today’s office ✨ Sweet Pea needed some beauty rest… and I needed somewhere to plug in for a bit. Originally headed to the Edgewater Library, but made a quick UPS stop and then—HELLO Black Market Bakers 👀 How did I forget about this place?! So good. Cozy, easy to work from, and… this warm ham & gruyère croissant + iced tea situation = absolutely no regrets. Second Midnight Madness of the season ✔️ Late posting, but worth it. This one was so much busier than the first — tons of live music, great energy, and we even made it over to West Street this time. I almost tried the giant rolling balls… until I realized one wrong step and I’d just be falling on my face the whole time 😂 Hard pass. Loved sharing the night with Mom and Susan — such a fun reminder of how alive downtown Annapolis feels during the holidays. Today’s Stay Pet shoot… Scrolling through the first unedited previews. These faces. These noses. These tiny chaos gremlins and gentle old souls. I can’t. 🐾💛 Animals are truly the best photo subjects. Once i walked in the yards, it didn’t take long until they were like, “Ah yes, she is one of us.” And then immediately let me into their daycare packs like I’d been hanging there for years. I was just wandering around like the new kid on the playground who somehow got adopted by every friend group at once. And let’s talk about the camera hogs—the “I’d like my close-up now” crew. You know the type. The ones who see a lens and follow the camera like they’re auditioning for their own reality show. I respect the confidence. This is my favorite thing on earth—zoomies, wiggles, and head tilts! Set up shop at my favorite local remote work site, The Big Bean and I was SO Productive!! I made big strides today for a client’s upcoming fundraising event this fall! In just 3 hours and 45 minutes, I was able to: • Set up a Google account • Build a dedicated Google landing page • Purchase a custom domain name • Create an Eventbrite event page • Build an online sponsorship sign-up page • Set up a donation page (which can also be used the day of the event for donations & silent auctions) • Create multiple ticket portals • Establish an email program for outreach • Secure nonprofit pricing on most platforms And finally… • Linked everything above back to the landing page, so it’s all connected and ready to go live once financials are set. Next step: connect the bank account and sponsor/email lists so we can launch, start ticket sales, and open sponsorships. They say “pay attention to the road.” But sometimes the real story is what’s around it. Once again I was reminded how much you can see… when you’re not rushing to be somewhere else. A tower I recall from high school. A pair of cats in a window. A slice of sky through a construction zone. A yellow door, hot dog carts, little moments tucked between the lanes. It’s not profound. But maybe that’s the point. These are the moments in between—the slowdowns, the stops, the stillness—where the world quietly asks you to look around. This is what I saw… From the driver’s seat. Today was a road workday kind of day. 1.5 hours to Virginia. 5 photo shoots. 1.5 hours back to home. Out and about in the heat that started at 76° and ended… somewhere on the surface of the sun. Fueling the mission: • 24 oz of coffee (don’t judge me) • 18 oz protein shake • 32 oz of iced green tea • 36 oz of hydration water • 36 oz of plain water • 1 bacon & Gruyère egg bite • 2 Starbucks stops = 2 more additions to my Bathrooms of the Mid-Atlantic tour Saw 2 cute dogs. Dodged a the horrific traffic.
