Here’s the full version of our wonderful homies at @flipbirdfilms piece on Wilderwonder, our youth camp.
Wilderwonder is our chance to be in nature with each other, building community, accessing all of our childlike wonder, and fully present in each of our moments together. This past camp we spent it at Malibu Creek State Park. We were together in small groups, hiking, crafting, silent discoing, learning about the land, and chili cook offing. These types of camp experiences can be such powerful experiences, as we’re disconnected from our phones and all the stimulus of everyday life and fully tapped in to each other. It’s why the memory of these experiences feels so pure and like a dream
If you’re interested in being involved in Wilderwonder as a staffer or a camp coordinator, keep an eye out as our application will be coming out next month. For Wilderwonder this upcoming summer, we’ll be headed up to Angeles National Forest!
Home-y Made Meals 🍎
Home. Home is a sense of belonging; more of a feeling than a place. For our growing population of neighbors without housing, how can they still experience home?
What began as a conversation on how we could mobilize the Eayikes community to fill the food insecurity gap left by organizations sheltering-in-place, Home-y Made Meals will engage over 1,300 volunteers and serve over 125,000 homemade meals to unhoused people by the end of this year! Building upon Polo's Pantry's deep food justice network, our meals have helped strengthen relationships with unhoused communities as volunteers show up consistently every week with healthy, delicious meals. Meals are usually the capstone of outreach work for many organizations, so having quality food onhand has built trust - a critical component to this work.
The Covid-19 pandemic brought to light so many broken systems from food to housing, but in the wake of several crises we also saw how people and communities rose up to meet the needs of others. YOU are part of this care movement and we couldn’t do any of this without you. And to Sonia, Jenny, Angela, Jackie, Lance, Alex, and Melissa, thank YOU for all the ways you choose to use your gifts to build this program and serve others in so many ways. We are so grateful!!
Pull up and celebrate this collective impact, 10 years of Eayikes, and the hearts of our Homeys at Across The Universe: An Eayikes Gala-ctic Ride on November 11! Last day to get a ticket is Saturday, 10/21 🧡

Our first Homeymade meal pick up was a success with a packed nutritional vegetarian “bolognese” pasta, charcuterie snack pack, carrot cake loaf, ciabatta bread and water. This was a project that my son wanted to be involved and woke up early at 8:30am to finalize cooking, package, and label! Thanks to Zoe for the pick up and all the volunteers! @homeymademeals@eayikes@polospantryla
Many hands make light work 💪🏼

If you know of anyone impacted by the #eaton fire in the #altadena and #pasadena area who’s in need of free food, clothing, hygiene, etc please let them know they can head to @weareneighborsandfriends 88 E Union St, Pasadena. They’re open until 4pm today and 9a-4p through the weekend.
Thanks to everyone for reaching out looking to tap in. Stopped by Neighbors & Friends today who’ve transformed their space into a distribution hub after displaced neighbors sharing how difficult it’s been to access resources through the main channels being promoted to the general public. You can go to their IG to get daily updates on what’s needed as response is very day to day as they learn more. There’s a link in their bio if you’re interested in volunteering in a variety of capacities.
Huge love to Melissa @polospantryla for directing nutritious food to this and numerous communities in need, and @eayikes fam Hannah @saffroncowboy and her team for holding this community space down for the people. HMM has added this site to our weekly meal distribution schedule and will continue to figure out the best ways to show up for our unhoused neighbors.
We love y’all, we keep us safe.
This is what community looks like! The Peace and Healing Center is less than two years old and serves as a tangible example of what a care-first society can look like. While addressing the many intersections of systemic racism, poverty, and houselessness can feel overwhelming, like our family at @skidrowcoffee would say, “stay grounded”. Your participation and compassion matters.
There’s still time to spread some holiday cheer and contribute to Shopping’s FREE for our neighbors in Skid Row. Check the links in bio to schedule a drop off of your gently used items, purchase goodies on our Amazon wishlist, and make a monetary donation! Much love!

Our incredible Homey, Tiana, has created a video blog highlighting her experience during a recent shift where she served as a DREF (Driver + Chef, get it??) for Home-y Made Meals. In the full video (link in bio), Tiana takes you through her journey, from preparing meals in the kitchen to delivering them to our neighbors.

Whether you’re out there delivering meals, helping to prep in the kitchen, or supporting us behind the scenes—your dedication and care make all the difference. Your efforts create real change in the lives of the individuals and families we serve, and we couldn’t do it without you!
Let Tiana’s story remind us all of the strength and beauty of this community. Thank you for being a vital part of it, and for the countless ways you support our mission.
