RepostBy @danielquasar : "Today marks the 1st full year since this design changed everything for me. Over the course of the year, I have watched this flag design travel further around the world than I could ever hope to myself. It has changed lives, minds, and hearts all over the globe. It has also been divisive and controversial but art is supposed to cause waves and ripples. The opportunities that have been opened up to me, I am forever grateful for and appreciate them more every single day.
As we march into Pride this year, remember who got us where we are and what we still need to do. My flag symbolizes Progress both what we have done and what we still need to do. Pride was a riot. Fight for the freedoms of ALL who are within our community, not just those who you like or are nice to you.
Be whoever you are. Be it with Pride.

RepostBy @ppowgallery : "“Tom Rauffenbart told his doctor that he did not want an AIDS test. That was the general consensus among gay men in 1987. Why be tested when there were no treatments to look forward to—only depression, only stigma. “Everyone was afraid their name would end up on some kind of list,” Tom said. But when his doctor suggested a T-cell test instead, Tom agreed. He did not know what a T-cell was. The count that came back was between five hundred and six hundred, indicating that his immune system was somewhat compromised. (A healthy immune system has five hundred to fifteen hundred T-cells per cubic millimeter of blood). He went to get an AIDS test when he learned that the city’s public health clinics would do it anonymously.
And so, two to three weeks after Hujar died, Tom learned that he was HIV positive. When David came over that night, Tom told him, and they both cried.” - Cindy Carr 🖤 painting: “Something From Sleep III (For Tom Rauffenbart),” 1989 by David Wojnarowicz 🖤🖤 💔" )
