I used to memorize Bible verses now I write my favorite song lyrics on cakes. Although illegible these are the lyrics to Labi Siffre’s Bless the Telephone. I meticulously planned out the script to fit on the cake … that didn’t work. I also thought bay leaf frosting would turn out fantastic but it was a series of mistakes that made the frosting inedible. I will probably scrape off the frosting to save the cake because the Fruity Pebble Feuilletine was a genius move and I can’t let it go to waste. This was a very late @bucketlistbakeclub June sheet cake challenge . Instagram doesn’t have the original version of this song on their platform , but please go look it up, It is like I said, one of my favorites. ❤️

I used @20thcenturycafesf cookbook to make this cake. Ive been wanting to work my way through this cook book, this bake club challenge was the perfect place to start. Inauguration with butter. I've never felt so connected and excited to read recipes. Michelle is unmatched, almost magical in her ways. I will forever mourn the closing of 20th Century Cafe, especially because I never had a chance to visit.
I told a friend , about making this cake, I knew exactly what went wrong when it was happening, and isn't that the way? Upon cutting it open I gasped, cried a little tear of relief, and fell to my knees , seeing that I hadn't totally wasted my time and money to make this beautiful treat. I surprised myself at my success.
I'm grateful to putter about and make food that's both beautiful and healing. Everyday is a blessing.
Pumpkin Pecan Cinny Rolls. @bucketlistbakeclub this month is pumpkin bread. I used @emcdowell Pumpkin Brioche for the roll which was perfect. My own pecan spice filling, which is worth editing. And a basic cream cheese frosting. Altogether tasty.
