You can imagine finding them dancing in solitude from a stubbed toe in a lonely room, a comical hop and a squeeze between teeth
Like catching a shooting star.

I’m very happy to share this illustration I did for an Upcoming ‘Hip Hop ‘ event this June yo , sponsored by @giganticbrewing and show run by the homie and fellow artist @mayfair_pdx !
It was both fun and healing to take a journey through 90’s hip hop and both gather inspiration and embrace the nostalgia. Hip hop has been so grounding , I am old enough to remember the visages of both Ron and Nancy Raygunz telling the populace of the dangers of rap music to the very information of the CIA having a hand in backing gangsta rap in order to poison the beautiful Black community, all in all it was lifetimes worth of Shakespearean prose being written and performed impeccably with so many different individual artists being able to also craft their own voice and soul within such..and evolve!!! And how hip hop grew into every cultures arms akin to Blues allowing so many amazing artists help us all feel less alone! HipHop God bless you, I can write a universe about your magic 🤎🕊️🎤.

‘Here then Gone’
Me and two friends watched a pigeon die the other afternoon.
The pigeon flapped violently unto the street and rolled into the gutter , it vomited and seizured . Its neck expanded, I was afraid it was going to explode. We stood helplessly as its wings slowly stiffened and it laid on its back , legs stuck in the air.
Tiny grey flies began to swirl in and out of its feathers. I shed a pitiful tear as a friend gave the bird shade.
The eyes were the last to go. They rolled back and then just opened wide.
After its fight was over we all hugged and went home.

I’m grateful to share some art I worked on for the beautiful artist and friend , Darian @darianpatrickmusic , for the release of their new single. Darian’s latest single is mournful, present and hopeful, a deep bitter gospel from a true strong and open heart. In a way it’s feeling the loss while you’re not alone, and being moved to a future made for those that love🖤🤍.
This project was both a heavy and real one. It’s macabre in a sense , but acknowledging and expressing the current grief brought forth from the human atrocities encompassing us has been grounding. To not ignore it and move forward with bitter honesty from within the soul allows me to shine with my ‘truth’ and carry less weight on my moral spirit.
I’m grateful to both be alive and create here in this existence with y’all , may our positive creations shed light on the darkness of destruction and death , to help foster the seeds of love , renewal , freedom and forgiveness within its bloodstained soil.

I wrote some new music to help metabolize some of the pain and grief I’ve been feeling while we lurch from crisis to crisis and witness systemic sabotage, disenfranchisement, grift, ignorance, and bigotry become (or, return to) de rigueur in our current politic.
These songs are both mournful and meditative. Working on them has helped me to, quite literally, find my voice and a means to move forward with some hope for the future.

A school day and the young excitement of seeing your friends, playing, learning and growing, it’s magical and it sometimes feels forever. I kept telling myself it was 147 school girls but when searching information the number grew to 158 or 160 on the brutal morning of Feb 26th , those kids, seven boats in Venezuela filled with family fishermen ,a city of children, the mines of Africa, and so much more, echoe in my entire moral and spiritual framework.
To make art and create has been such a gift and lesson in flow and resonance with my surroundings. I’m nothing without all that encompasses me and has worked to bring the world I embody. I was asked while painting this how I got the name ’Eatcho’ , I got that name late night years ago doing sidewalk murals at elementary schools so kids could have a psychedelic morning going to class. Destruction is easy. Honesty is hard. My heart is broken and fixed with love simultaneously, this may be chaos’s lesson to us all.
Thankful to the friends @northerndraw@quomni to paint with at the Burnside skatepark .
