This month marks the 4th year we’ve been a band, so kinda fitting we got to cover “Thanks A Lot” for a Third Eye Blind comp (which will come out in the future). Thanks a lot to Pat at I/O Detroit Studios for his engineering, mixing, and mastering - he’s always been a great friend. Thanks a lot to Austin for his incredible art and design - dude is a wizard. Thanks a lot to Sherburt who took the photo of us at Pug Fest - from past lives onward. Tomorrow is the final day of operation at the PUG house, where it all started for us. We will now be having music all day, beginning at Noon and ending whenever we end. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show at Orchid Theatre, and as a make up we’ll be hosting Primrose & Magazine Beach as a brunch show matinee on 8/2, 12-5:30pm before RIP PUG 3 🪦 which begins immediately after, 5:30 -10pm. Both shows are free to attend tomorrow, we just ask that you please buy merch & donate to the bands if you can. We also have so much to giveaway, as always snacks & everything are free at PUG House, but tomorrow it all needs to go! We also have sooooo much beer left (21+ only) we need you to come take off our hands, please. Tomorrow we also celebrate 1 year sober from alcohol to our own @go4_kyleminch & he needs all it out of his house! Huge shoutout to our very close friends & local legends Antighost, Darcy Moran, & LoudFoxCult for jumping in to support our touring friends in need on an early gig last minute. Couldn’t be more thrilled this all worked out & we get to host Easy Beach (solo/acoustic) too, just like the first set ever at our first house show. Beach Bums: my new band, Great Planes!, released their first single today. I’ve been saying new music is coming for the past year, and well, here it is. Originally written for Easy Beach, “Heavy Hollow” is a departure from the sound we had been cultivating for years. It felt like a completely different band, and it was. I will forever admire my time with Easy Beach, but for now I will be focusing my time on Great Planes! (Yes, there’s an exclamation point in the name). We’ll be back with The Beach Boys eventually, but please go follow the new band and come to a show. If you play bass, hit me up - we don’t have a bass player. Pug Fest 2… Worked to maximum capacity on this thing for nearly a year, and it exceeded all expectations. As my career continued to let me down, I sank deeper into planning this festival, which opened more doors to bigger opportunities. I want to thank our crew, venues, sponsors, and bands for being part of this nutty ah venture we began three years ago. Thank you Kyle, Doug, Spencer, Sherburt, Sean, Dave, Chris, Steve, Michelangelo, Kate, Evan, Zoe, Mike FC, Johnny, Troy, Beej, Aly, Iggy, Erin, Mollie, the Victorias, Josie, Kendrick, and everyone else I may have missed. Thank you, thank you Detroit, Ann Arbor, Bowling Green - we were reminded why we love doing this. Our album was released one year ago, and it’s cool to see it still has legs. We played most of it this weekend, and it was mind blowing talking to people who actually listen to it. We return to the studio this week to begin recording the next few songs we’ve been cooking.
