There was something incredibly poignant about seeing the
@bold_exhibition by
@caroline_sikkenk displayed within the walls of the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
For the Pink Ribbon Foundation, this project has always been about visibility, strength and humanity - celebrating women affected by breast cancer who have experienced hair loss through treatment, while challenging perceptions around beauty, identity and survivorship.
But bringing the exhibition into a hospital environment adds another layer entirely.
For many of our Scottish ladies featured in these portraits, the Western General is far more than a gallery space. It’s a place connected to diagnosis, treatment, appointments, uncertainty, resilience and hope. Some received treatment here, while others continue to walk these corridors today.
To now see their portraits standing proudly in the very environment where some of their hardest moments were faced feels incredibly powerful.
BOLD does not shy away from the realities of cancer. Instead, it creates space for strength, vulnerability and connection to exist side by side - and in a clinical setting, that message perhaps feels more important than ever.

Great care was taken with both the quality and finish of the images, while also ensuring the exhibition met the hospital’s fire retardancy and hygiene requirements needed for a clinical environment.

@Kimptoncharlottesquare as well the
@CaledonianSleeper , also played a huge part in making it possible for the Pink Ribbon Foundation team to attend and support both the installation and launch of the exhibition in Edinburgh.
