⠀ 이스턴에디션의 디자인을 이끌어가는 태오양 스튜디오의 LA Residence Project가 세계적인 건축 인테리어 월간지인 Architectural Digest 2025년 11월호에 소개되었습니다. 미국 LA 맨해튼 비치의 한 주택의 내외부를 전부 디렉팅한 작업으로, ‘동양과 서양의 미감이 공존하는 조화’를 주제로 진행되었던 프로젝트 입니다. 공간 전반에는 이스턴에디션의 가구와 조명이 함께 어우러지며, 한국적 물성과 정제된 미학이 자연스럽게 녹아 있습니다. 국내외에서 활발히 활동하며 의미있는 성과를 이어가고 있는 태오양스튜디오의 여정에 축하를 전하며, 이스턴에디션 또한 앞으로 펼쳐질 더욱 풍요로운 디자인의 여정에 함께하겠습니다. ⠀ 리스 크랄(Lies Kraal)의 작업은 색과 형태를 넘어, 시간의 흐름 속에서 감각이 새롭게 드러나는 경험에 가깝습니다. 1988년부터 이어온 젠 불교 수행은 불필요한 것을 덜어내고 본질에 집중하는 태도로 작업 전반에 깊이 스며들었습니다. 물감을 반복해 쌓고 갈아내는 과정 속에서 색과 표면은 빛과 시선에 따라 미묘하게 변화하며, 고요한 화면 안에 깊은 몰입과 균형의 감각을 만들어냅니다. 적은 것으로 더 많은 것을 담아낸 그의 작업은 절제와 비움의 미학을 통해 본질적인 감각의 풍경을 완성합니다. 그의 작업이 더해진 이스턴에디션 아틀리에는 가구와 예술, 빛과 여백이 조용히 어우러지는 공간으로 확장되며, 보다 깊은 균형의 감각을 제안합니다. Lies Kraal’s work goes beyond color and form, offering an experience in which perception quietly unfolds through the passage of time. Her Zen Buddhist practice, sustained since 1988, has deeply shaped her artistic approach, grounding it in the discipline of removing the unnecessary and focusing on essence. Through the repeated process of layering and sanding paint, color and surface shift subtly with light and perspective, creating a profound sense of immersion and balance within each quiet composition. By expressing more through less, her work embodies the aesthetics of restraint and emptiness, revealing a landscape of essential perception. With her work integrated into Eastern Edition Atelier, the space expands into a quiet harmony of furniture and art, light and stillness, offering a deeper sense of balance.

⠀ 전통 목가구의 짜임 방식인 막장부촉맞짜임을 현대적으로 응용한 송치 라운지 체어입니다. 간결한 형태 안에 담긴 단단한 구조는 절제된 조형미를 보여주며, 송치 쿠션과 나무의 질감이 어우러져 깊이 있는 고급스러움을 전합니다. 충분한 두께감에서 오는 안정적인 착석감은 사용자에게 편안한 휴식과 천천히 몰입하는 시간을 선사합니다. This is the Songchi Lounge Chair, reinterpreted through a contemporary application of makjangbu-chok matjjaim, a traditional joinery method used in Korean wooden furniture. Its solid structure, expressed through a clean and restrained form, reveals a quiet sculptural beauty, while the combination of Songchi leather cushions and the natural texture of wood brings a sense of refined luxury. ⠀ 비가 그치고, 젖은 공기 위로 번지는 햇살과 대나무에 머무는 그림자, 돌 위에 고인 물의 잔잔한 표면까지. 잠시 스쳐간 비의 흔적과 그 뒤에 찾아온 고요한 빛이 겹쳐지며 무미다점의 정원은 한층 더 깊은 풍경이 됩니다. After the rain, sunlight spreads through the damp air, resting on the shadows cast across the bamboo and on the still surface of water gathered on the stone. As the passing traces of rain blend with the quiet light that follows, MUMI’s garden takes on an even deeper sense of stillness.

⠀ 김연임 작가는 한국 전통 예술과 공예의 미감에 대한 깊은 관심을 바탕으로 서예, 도예, 침선, 화예, 자연염색 등을 익히며 아시아적 미의식에 대한 탐구를 이어왔습니다. 돌, 종이, 섬유, 나무, 먹 등 자연의 재료를 중심으로 전통적 감각을 동시대적으로 재해석하고, 절제된 형태와 구조 안에서 이를 자신만의 언어로 시각화합니다. 보이지 않지만 존재하는 것, 이미 사라졌거나 사라져가는 것, 그리고 시간과 공간, 기억이 교차하며 축적되는 지점. 작가는 한지, 섬유, 실, 흙 등의 재료를 통해 여백과 매듭, 질감을 쌓아가며 표면 아래 머무는 감정과 상태를 은유적으로 드러냅니다. 이스턴에디션 아틀리에에 놓인 그녀의 작업은 공간 안에 조용한 깊이와 결을 더하며, 눈에 잘 드러나지 않는 감각까지 천천히 환기합니다. Artist Kim Yeonim has developed a deep interest in the aesthetics of traditional Korean art and craft, studying calligraphy, ceramics, needlework, floral art, and natural dyeing, while continuing her exploration of Asian sensibilities. Working primarily with natural materials such as stone, paper, fiber, wood, and ink, she reinterprets traditional aesthetics in a contemporary context, visualizing them through her own language within restrained forms and structures. That which is unseen yet present, that which has disappeared or is fading away, and the point where time, space, and memory intersect and accumulate— through materials such as hanji, fiber, thread, and clay, she builds layers of emptiness, knots, and textures, subtly revealing the emotions and states that reside beneath the surface. Her works, placed within the Eastern Edition Atelier, add a quiet depth and texture to the space, gently awakening even the most imperceptible senses.

⠀ 무미다점은 차 한 잔의 맛뿐 아니라 그 곁에 놓인 사물과 풍경, 그리고 머무는 공기까지 함께 전하고자 합니다. 작은 형태와 질감 안에 스며 있는 고요한 아름다움이 깊게 남습니다. MUMI Tea House hopes to offer not only the taste of a cup of tea, but also the objects and scenery beside it, and even the air in which one lingers. A quiet beauty, held within small forms and subtle textures, leaves a lasting impression.

The curved sofa, with its graceful lines, brings comfort and softness to a space, offering an artistic presence that goes beyond furniture itself.
