I’ve been seeing army references everywhere these days and camo always drags me back to my father 🪖 - not just the uniform but of the battles that he carries inside him, the kind that a man fights alone. Those that don’t bruise the skin but leave scars in the soul. Some of those scars have found their way into me, passed down like unfinished business and everyday I’m learning how to loosen the same chains he put on himself ⛓️
From young I’ve been told
To ‘act more feminine’ or two ‘sit like a woman’ or to ‘behave the right way as a woman should’ and to hold back from being too expressive or provocative.
And though this image, provocative to many, even my own family, all the better, I hope it speaks the language women have carried for generations. 👵🏽
