Went to Renner’s Grill in Multnomah Village last night to see my buddy Paul Lesinski play some music. I’d never been to Renner’s before and decided to eat dinner there. I had the club sandwich. As you can see it was massive, I couldn’t finish it. I had to deconstruct it in order to eat it. Reasonable though, two Milk Stout beers and the sandwich was under $30. (I know when did that become reasonable, you can spend that much at McDonald’s now unless you order off the discount menu) Very good food and beer. And a cool little place to listen to music outside. A little cold and wet last night, but still very cool…..
SAGA Sundays-Images at Twilight Saga’s 2nd album released in May of 1979 is a little more pop sounding than their first album but has prog flourishes in the instrumental sections. Two songs actually go into Latin rhythms during these sections, kind of a prog salsa thing….and it works….and there are a few disco drum influences, but they never go into actual disco. Peter Rochon, original keyboardist is gone, even though he co-wrote a number of songs on the album, and Gregg Chadd replaced him. The production on this album is a little thin sounding to me, not enough low end most of the time but that’s just a preference thing I think. They do use syth bass more than most bands already, it’s just not as heavy as I like it. But overall a solid record, I think their first record is slightly better but not by much. 8/10 #rock #prog #progrock #saga

Old Songs-First time at the Covert Cafe in Portland, Oregon…..great place with a great vibe….they really support songwriters and independent artists as they have a strict ‘no-covers’ rule. All original music all the time….also first time playing with Mike Budd on bass guitar…..you’ll be seeing and hearing more of him in the future for sure…..hope to be back soon….#independentartists #songwriters #rock #blues #country
