This morning, we were honored to have Senator Alexis Calatayud and Miami-Dade County School Board Member Luisa Santos join our Florida team at Chapman Partnership Early Childhood Center South.
As part of the visit, attendees observed and participated in evidence-based activities led by Early Learning Corps tutors. By placing tutors in preschool classrooms, Early Learning Corps provides the extra academic support and encouragement needed to help Florida's learners get students ready for kindergarten.
Special thanks to Principal Barnes and the entire team at Chapman Partnership Early Childhood Center South for their long-standing partnership and for hosting today's visit. We were proud to have the opportunity to showcase Early Learning Corps in action! #EarlyLearningCorpsWorks
Serving as an Early Learning Tutor in Riverdale, California, Elvia is adding to her broad experience in childcare and early learning. Working previously as a playground aide and kindergarten substitute teacher at various elementary schools, these experiences have helped her find her calling.
Elvia chose to serve with Early Learning Corps because of her passion for helping kids reach their goals. "I love working with children. I love helping them achieve their goals and seeing the excitement in their faces when they do," she shares. This year, she's looking forward to making a difference and putting smiles on her students' faces each day.

For this week’s #MemberMonday, we’re shining a light on Rose, a first-year Early Learning Tutor serving students in Tracy, Minnesota. When she’s not in the classroom, Rose brings her creativity to life through community theater, working at a local radio station, and baking—always finding joy in art in its many forms.
“I thought learning is important and knowledge increases confidence, and children deserve to start life well—and I could help with that,” Rose shares. She’s already seen that impact in action, from a student proudly counting to six to another gaining the confidence to recognize and name the letter A after working together and building trust.
Rose is considering using her Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pursue a degree in either education or theater. Thank you for bringing your creativity, energy, and care to your students, Rose!

Cassie’s service as an Early Learning Tutor combines two of her lifelong passions: Helping people and working with kids. A former after-school teacher and nanny for a local family, she was looking to gain experience in early childhood education when she found Early Learning Corps.
“I loved how my position was working with smaller children, and that’s exactly the age range I wanted to go for,” Cassie says of what motivated her to become a tutor. As she gathers experience working with younger students through the program, she’s also looking forward and considering going to college to become a teacher.
We’re so glad that you found such purpose and joy as an Early Learning Tutor, Cassie! Thank you for all you do to ensure Florida students are making strong starts in school! #MemberMonday
