Autodidact musician Mathieu Sylvestre has been based in Berlin since 2010, after moving from France following 10 years as a vocalist and guitarist in rock music.
Working with guitar, cello, effect pedals, and contact microphones, he initially experimented with sound and noise, exploring the origins of vibration through purely analogue means. Following these early guitar-based noise experiments, he developed sound pieces using field recordings and Moog analogue synthesizers.
His live electronic performances, based on improvised patterns, have evolved over time, highlighting the boundaries between analogue sound textures and the core of electronic vibration, with a focus on bringing a physical, sculptural approach to noise music.
