The Trump Administration recently published 2 proposed regulations that target access to medical care for trans youth.
What are the 2 proposed rules?
One proposed rule would bar any hospital that provides puberty-pausing medications, hormone therapy, and
surgery operations for trans youth under the age of 18 from
participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, which
nearly every hospital in the country participates in.
The other proposed rule would prevent Medicaid funds from covering puberty pausing medications, hormone therapy, and surgery for trans youth under the age of 18, and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funds from
covering that care for trans people under the age of 19.
These rules would prevent almost 90% of trans youth from accessing gender affirming care.

The administration has published a proposed rule that will almost entirely ban gender affirming care for transgender youth in the United States. The rule, which bypasses legislative process, revises the requirements that Medicare and Medicaid certified hospitals must meet to receive funding. This revision prohibits these hospital systems from providing gender affirming care for youth. This rule is a discriminatory violation of equal protection. The Equal Protect Clause is supposed to protect ALL of us.
