SAVE THE DATE Sabato 23 Maggio h18 | Spazio Volta When species don’t meet è una esposizione nata da un dialogo tra lo sguardo di Luca Petti (Benevento, 1990), Davide Dicorato (Milano, 1991) e la collezioni del Museo Civico di Scienze Naturali E. Caffi. Gli artisti hanno in questo caso potuto esplorare i depositi delle collezioni e chiedere in prestito alcuni reperti ai conservatori, integrati nelle opere in mostra. Il progetto, a cura di Arnold Braho e Edoardo De Cobelli, prosegue la collaborazione di Spazio Volta con gli enti territoriali, iniziata con l’Oasi WWF Valpredina, presente nella volta al piano inferiore, all’interno di un palinsesto annuale dedicato al rapporto tra l’uomo e gli animali. When Species Don’t Meet nasce dalla volontà di interrogare le modalità attraverso cui l’animalità viene osservata, rappresentata ed esposta all’interno di differenti dispositivi istituzionali e architettonici. Il progetto prende forma a partire da una riflessione sui limiti dello sguardo zoologico e sulle condizioni di possibilità dell’incontro tra specie, mettendo in discussione le dinamiche di esposizione, spettacolarizzazione e controllo che storicamente hanno definito il rapporto tra umano e animale, a partire dai musei di scienze naturali. Oltre il centro è un tavolo di conversazione tra le iniziative artistiche orientate ai territori non urbani. Per questo primo incontro ho immaginato un confronto tra istituzioni, biennali e iniziative dal basso, coinvolgendo GAMeC, il Museo della Montagna, Una Boccata d’Arte, Habitat, Robida e In-ruins. Ci vediamo il 25 marzo, ore 18.30 allo spazio Cuore della Triennale di Milano 🌱 Ingresso gratuito su registrazione /eventi/oltre-centro Triennale ospita in Cuore un incontro tra le iniziative artistiche orientate ai territori non urbani. Campagne, territori interni, terre alte e piccoli borghi sono i paesaggi al centro di nuove metodologie di creazione e co-progettazione sempre piú spesso in dialogo con le comunità che li abitano. Il tavolo desidera restituire un racconto di alcuni tra i progetti che adottano approcci decentrati e capire quanto le riflessioni del 2020 su diverse temporalitá, metodi e luoghi di fare arte siano diventate pratiche concrete. I met Meryl Yana last year during my research in Mexico and I remained struck by the intensity of her work, the type of elements she used, the places she recklessly visited to collect them. Installation views from SEPTENTRIO, a show I curated in Mexico City that will travel to Italy soon. project in collaboration with Galeria Ambar Quijano An extract from the critical text: “Have you ever encountered a smell that feels disturbing, almost toxic, yet strangely seductive? Like the metallic trace of silver on your hands or the sting of gasoline in your nose—uncanny odors that seep through the senses, generating sensations that exceed what any single sense can register. They enter through one sensory channel and linger, unfolding into other bodily responses. The work of Meryl Yana has the agency of a pervasive smell, that uses the sense of the sight to awaken other feelings. Images and paintings are ferries of physical, almost visceral emotions that stick under the skin and the more rational ability to elaborate. This viscerality comes from the everyday life’s forces that Yana explores beyond geographical limits and safety concerns. It’s a vast horizon with little orientation and fewer cardinal points, like the geography of the self and the infinite geographies of Mexico, a place that embodies these forces more than others. Between deserts, markets and butchers, here the rough solitude and the brutal violence abrupt. Yana approaches these realities by gathering materials and documenting them through photography, not with sociological intent, but as sites of rawness and unfiltered intensity. They are places where experience is not mediated, where force is immediate. This intensity is then translated into her work as a form of research oriented toward what ultimately matters most: the truth that comes from experience and lived narrative memory.” Photo credit: @j_o_v_s_

We’re glad to invite to SEPTENTRIO opening on the 7th february onward from 10 AM to 2 PM in San Miguel Chapultepec, Gobernador Manuel Reyes Veramendi 14. On that occasion, Meryl Yana will be opening the doors to her studio in Mexico for the first time. Bridging time and space the show will then make its way to Italy. Septentrion is a psychic space, not a place. Septentrion historically names the North, but it is more: it is a cultural gaze, a force that measures, maps, organises. Throughout her research she tries to go beyond established orders, often transgressing boundaries in male dominated spaces. Her practice resists representation in favour of enactment. It is not concerned with illustrating experience, but with producing it through acts of transgression, attentiveness, and presence.

I’m pleased to announce 2026 Spazio Volta program on the platforms of Kilometro Rosso (@kilometrorosso ), the scientific and technological park designed by Jean Nouvel that runs alongside the A4 motorway In collaboration with the E. Caffi Museum of Natural Sciences of Bergamo and the WWF Valpredina Oasis, the program will feature a curated series of exhibitions, talks, and workshops focusing on the relationship between animals, wildlife, and the urban landscape. On the occasion of the invitation extended by @luca_bombassei , whom I thank for this opportunity, we have conceived a visual narrative set within the spaces of the former church, starting from the collections of the E. Caffi Museum and placing them in dialogue with works by selected artists. Cinema de Resistência Ex chiesa di San Rocco 15th Nov | 3-7 PM Come parte di ArtDate, festival dell’arte contemporanea di Bergamo, Spazio Volta partecipa con Cinema de Resistência, iniziativa organizzata contro il silenzio che troppo spesso avvolge il dibattito internazionale in merito a questioni calde. Lo screening coinvolge nove artisti nazionali ed internazionali focalizzandosi nella prima parte della giornata sul tema delle proteste e della censura nel territorio sud americano per poi continuare con una serie di cortometraggi indipendenti selezionati per la visione libera. As part of Artdate, the contemporary art festival in Bergamo, Spazio Volta is participating with Cinema de Resistência, a series of film screenings held in the former Church of San Rocco. The initiative is organized in response to the silence-the theme of this year’s edition-that too often shrouds international debate on pressing global issues.
