About the clip:
On May 23, 2023, Sister Senator Katrina Shealy (R) sent shockwaves across the South Carolina Senate and the state when she said the quiet part out loud — it is time for men to take responsibility for irresponsible ejaculation and unwanted pregnancy.
This clip taken from the final Senate floor debate of the South Carolina’s six week ban, went viral as Shealy and her four Sister Senators became a national sensation for their courage in choosing sisterhood and solidarity with the women of South Carolina over party allegiance.

Excited to be kicking off a month in Maine with @monson_arts as a part of an artist residency where I’m continuing to work on @sistersenatorsfilm !!! Monson is a beautiful town! It’s right at the end of the Appalachian Trail and just about as quiet and peaceful as you can get. Looking forward to lots of 🏃♀️ and thinking and working over the next few weeks! (And having been in Savannah and then NYC…I’m now experiencing my third Spring season of the year so far in 2026 🤩😂)
On this last day of Women’s History Month we have to celebrate our five fearless Sister Senators whose courage earned their place in South Carolina history + our visionary Director who has been working tirelessly for three years to tell the world their story.
Thank you Mia, Penry, Sandy, Katrina, Margie, and Emily, for being the kind of leaders we deserve, and the role models our girls need.

Starting this Friday - tune in to PBS to watch this lovely two-part film about the Martha Graham Dance Company.
Produced by Partisan Pictures - and directed by Cyndee Readdean and Peter Schnall - who really are two greats in the documentary industry.
I had the pleasure of helping out with the archival and third party materials.
Even if you aren’t a dance fan...you’ll really enjoy this. Tune in or stream online!!!
Today I visited the @juliettegordonlowbirthplace — which as silly as it may sound — has been something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl. Before coming to Savannah for the @onviewresidency I only knew this city was the birthplace of the @girlscouts and a city I had never been to even though it was just 2 hrs away! Back when I was a Girl Scout, I remember reading through the history and looking at the old uniforms and pictures with fascination. I loved imagining those first Girl Scout meetings. I was so excited when my troop planned a trip to come visit and see the place where the Girl Scouts was born! BUT — I ended up getting sick and not being able to go!! Yall, I was soooo so disappointed. Fast forward—I’m here in Savannah working on the @sistersenatorsfilm and I knew I finally was going to get to visit this place I had wanted to see for most of my life. Well - today it finally happened. I was the only one who signed up for the time slot so I ended up on a private tour! The tour guide was incredible and we had a blast. I was touched to learn so much more about the GS Founder. She was pro woman before being pro woman was even a thing! And getting to do the tour as I am deep in editing on the @sistersenatorsfilm just feels soo right. It’s been a tough few years for women’s empowerment. But I know women working together can, has, and will change the world. - from a proud Girl Scout Alum ❤️❤️

This is the energy. 🔥
After all these years, Sister Senator Margie Bright Matthews seems to have born with an ability to shine light in dark places — and put a smirk on your face when she does it.
We’ve loved watching all of our Sister Senators rattle South Carolina’s predominately older white male state legislature. Cleaver wit and laugh out loud humor are powerful forces in resistance — especially when up against the good ‘ol boys!
🚨 👠 REMINDER: Join us as we kick off our heels - Virtually! - with the Sister Senators THIS SUNDAY! See the second slide for details and RSVP at the link in our bio!
I’m so excited for our upcoming event on Sunday Feb 1st with the Sister Senators in support of the Sister Senators Film!!!
Things are topsy turvy in 2026 - and its just January! Come hear from the Sister Senators on their insights on what’s going on AND how they’re facing the new year!
Our events in 2025 all were location specific - BUT for this one...you can join from anywhere!!
Excited that Grace Bouldin Cowan (@gracecowan1 ) from Frogmore Stew (@frogmorestewsc ) is moderating AND Ashley Crary Lidow (@craashy ) from Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (@wrenetwork ) will be sharing updates on how activists are pushing back against restrictive legislation in South Carolina.
AND - we’re gonna have a sneak peek at a new scene from the documentary!
We are kicking off our shoes, pouring a drink, and finding some levity - despite the realities of attacks on women’s rights! RSVP link in my bio!
