315 Berry St was one of the first A.I.R. Designations in Brooklyn…four floors are still live/work, and the building is now primarily residential. The energy storage proposal on our roof and adjoining loading area is the first such installation on a fully occupied residential building. With the recent change in Administration , the BSA is no longer prioritizing the safety of stabilized tenants and the neighborhood that live in . We all recognize the need for energy alternatives. The problem here is that the city is happy to have the hard work of public safety and long term planning to private companies solely motivated by the monetization of climate change and a landlord solely motivated by the monetization of his building. At a recent community board meeting it was clear that representation from the NYFD were not able to address the safety issues being raises. The residents don’t deserve to be the “canaries in the coal mine”—-please give us a read, donate if you can, and share forward.
