If you were to drive a pylon into the soils of Te Waipounamu and tune into its transmissions, I imagine you’d hear something close to what we’re presenting here today.
Ōtautahi based Ayaluna debuts on the label with Doom Protocol, four incursions of psychedelia infused bass drawn from the outer edges of the very underground she is helping define.
A fixture in the doof circuits across the motu, we here in Aotearoa are well familiar with her work — but for the international audience, we’re excited to shed this light.
Doom Protocol.

Welcome back to our first ambient night of 2026!
This time, for a very special cause, so near and dear to our hearts. As some of you know, our friends at @twistedfrequencyfestival have recently fallen on tough times with the economy being shit and the government sending critical events funding to overseas promoters trying to sell us corporate slop fests. *cough cough* ultra festival *cough cough* live nation..... as much of a slap in the face that is for our homegrown talent, we remain very hopeful that there are enough people out there who care about our amazingly talented creatives, and the immense platform that Twisted provides. These grassroots festivals are our last bastion for real raw culture and art, untouched by corporate corruption. If we let these events die out, then we are truly lost. So if that sounds cooked and you want to avoid live nation and nz on air bastardizing our entire events industry, come to ambient night and slang some koha for all the talented people out there who make this incredible experience possible. We have a spectacular lineup of selectors spinning the calmest choons you've ever heard, and our homies at @lollospizza will be selling their famous pizza slices out the back too. The event will be running all day with open decks from 11am to 5pm and then our curated lineup until 11pm.
Check bio for online tickets otherwise its cash on the door.
See you there!!! 🌬✨️✨️✨️🍃
Abyssal Soundworks Showcase @ Twisted Frequency
Midnight, 2nd of January (Night of the 1st).
Main stage
Eli Høff followed by Ikona
100% original music
@e.li@ikona_music@twistedfrequencyfestival
Further cementing the Abyssal sound, we welcome a meticulously hewn work by Naarm-based psychedelic powerhouse Ebony Willis.
Stepping away from the melodic and progressive roots that have seen her performing at festivals across Australia and abroad, she delivers a gorgeous two-track expression of Abyssal sentiment.
Embrace the swirling hypnosis and the viscous brain-dance of Močvara.
Written & Produced by Ebony Willis ( @ebonywillismusic )
Mastered by Glenn Schulz ( @symbolsaroundu )
The second offering from the Abyss is a labyrinthine journey drawn from the kaleidoscopic mind of Te Whanganui-a-Tara–based artist 𝐈𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐚.
Within Aotearoa’s psychedelic circles, Ikona needs little introduction. A steadfast vessel of sound with a vision wholly his own. Master of sound design, modular synthesis, and live performance, he’s inscribed his name deep upon the walls of the scene.
We welcome 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥. A descent into the labyrinth, its corridors lined with winding rhythms and shifting textures, each track a prismatic spiral of sound, standing clear testament to Ikona’s singular voice.

Now a pivotal fixture in Aotearoa’s underground dance scene, Eli Høff’s focused interpretation of dance music blends elements of psy with deep hypnotic techno and powerful rhythms, resulting in his singularly characteristic sound.

Following on from an impressive string of releases on labels such as Berlin-based @phtm.music and Tāmaki Makaurau’s @gypnoticarecords , Eli’s own newly-launched label @abyssalsoundworks has just put forth its first sonic offering ‘Raraku’ – his debut full length album, a series of atmospheric rituals shaped by deep rhythms and a whirlpool of psychedelic textures. If ‘Raraku’ is anything to go by, this label is one to watch and we are eagerly awaiting future releases.

Spekki Webu is no stranger to limitless possibilities.
From Delft in The Netherlands, he shapes an ever-expansive musical realm, colliding the past & the present. High in energy but introspective in spirit, Spekki cultivates a sound that can be described as persistent and ritualistic. Whether in his DJ sets, live performances, or productions, he deconstructs time and space with fierce precision and tactility. As a composer and sound designer, he traverses multidisciplinary dimensions with his Signal Transmutations AV project and spatial installations presented at places like Lunchmeat, FIBER, De School, and Nxt Museum.
