And now for something completely different! I’m currently in school for a game art and design degree with 3d modeling and animation. I just finished a character design class and these are the results for my stylized character! I came up with this character a few months before starting this class. There are several designs that I technically like better, but for the sake of simplicity in modeling and sculpted I chose the design you see here. My thought process was Legend of Zelda meets Princess Mononoke, meets jungle book/tarzan. A boy found by a she-wolf, and taken to a village of childless women. Raised by many mothers (human and animal) Filius (boy) is a kind, compassionate boy. He helps around the village, and hunts with the wolves, often riding on the back of the she wolf Lupa. When tragedy strikes, Filius and Lupa embark on a journey to save his village. He is Filius, son of the She Wolf. #3dart #3dmodeling #3dsculpting #originalcharacter #characterdesign #studioghibli

I’ve had many iterations of this character kicking around in my head for the last few years that are more stylized, but this is a more grounded version suited for the class I was taking. The aesthetic in my head was Flash Gordon but make it rock ‘n’ roll. The character was initially maskless, but to save time from my class I opted to have a helmet. character design inspiration came from retro sci-fi, 80s rock ‘n’ roll, glam rock, Captain EO, and a dash of Power Rangers. Superman’s Legacy. A journey through time with my version of the man of steel. From humble beginnings, to the world’s shining beacon of hope. In my world Superman has been active since 1938, and because of slowed age from continual exposure to the yellow sun, he is active well into the modern age and beyond! The first three suits are his humble beginnings operating in the towns around smallville, as well as the neighboring states. Before he could fly, he leaped vast distances, and over tall buildings. Ma Kent makes him a uniform so that people know he’s there to help. She can’t make shoes, so he wears “P.F. Flyers”. After finishing college he moves to metropolis, and Ma Kent makes him his “big city” suit. Brighter colors, better fit, and boots. I invert the colors of the symbol because yellow is synonymous with joy and hope and I wanted the “S” From here on it’s a progression of his aging process. I like to think that eventually in his old age he takes over for Santa. Enjoy. #superman #supermanlegacy

My forever muse- Batman. Here’s what I’ve been obsessing over and iterating this week. Revisiting an older idea in a new way. In my batman redesign timeline, I combine Batman beyond and the dark knight returns, using visual elements from both, combined with white knight/beyond the white knight.
I love the idea of pieces of his suit carry through as he swaps out stuff. The old tattered cape (inspired by BVS), the boots and gloves. They tell a story of history. A legacy of fighting crime. The last designs evoke Batman 89, but also fit with the all black beyond design, but switching out the red for yellow. #batman #thedarkknightreturns #batmanbeyond #batmanredesign
One of my favorite pieces of Batman media is a brilliant animated short film called Batman: Broken Promise by @stephentrumbleanimation and I love the suit design (as well as all of the character designs). I really wanted to take a crack at sketching the suit design. One of theses days I’m going to make a custom action figure based on this design. A little Superman for your Sunday morning! In the world I’m building Superman emerges as a hero in 1938. This means that his ship crashes onto the Kent farm somewhere during the 1910’s. He has been around a long time, inspiring and saving mankind, helping those in need. He has lived through world wars, the fight for civil rights, the Cold War and the space race- witnessing the brilliance, beauty and horrors that people are capable of. Through it all he has strived to be the symbol of hope for the world. I imagine over time he has had many suit designs, but this one I’d like to think is his favorite- Ma Kent’s. Inspired by the muscle men of his youth. I went for a fleischer studios look, with a few small changes. Friendly and powerful #superman #manofsteel
