VERIZON EMPLOYEE ā”ļø WNBA ā”ļø FULL-TIME BASKETBALL TRAINER
āāā
2017 - HIGHSCHOOL
Graduated Williston HS in Williston, FL ⦠had ZERO offers until my senior year. Went to a showcase camp in Tampa, FL .. had a great showing and secured a ton of Division III / NAIA interest. Decided to play at Lasell University, a DIII school in Newton, MA.
2017-2021 - COLLEGE
Played 2.5 seasons at Lasell, averaged 12ppg / multiple 30pt point games. Tied the record for made 3pt in a single game. Decided to remove myself from the team due to personal reasons & COVID. Graduated with a bachelorās degree in exercise science. Planned on attending Physical Therapy School after graduating.
2021 - VERIZON EMPLOYEE
After graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic .. my plans on attending physical therapy school was delayed due to school / clinic closures around the state. I decided to get a job at a local Verizon for a couple months until the restrictions were lifted.
Completely removed from the game of basketball at that point ⦠Next thing I know @coachcurtmiller walks in the store to buy a phone. After chatting with him about my story.. he ended up offering me the opportunity to become a male practice player for the Connecticut Sun, WNBA team. That connection changed my life forever and redirected me back to the game I loved.
2021-2023 - WNBA PRACTICE PLAYER / PT AID
As the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted, I ended up leaving Verizon and began working as a Physical Therapy Aid in Avon, CT. While also working part time with the CT SUN as a male practice player during the season. Just learning and making connections at this point as I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Met some incredible people in the process.
2023 - BASKETBALL TRAINER / PT AID / WNBA
At this point, I was BUSY. Working 3 different jobs in completely different areas of Connecticut. Not sure what my path was gonna be and completely put my faith in God to guide me.
2023 WNBA SZN - WNBA COACHING INTERN / TRAINER
For the 2023 season, I was offered the opportunity to become a coaching intern / player development assistant for the Sun. Learned a ton about the game and developing players.
Continued ā¬ļø
Forever grateful for the people and opportunities this game continues to bring into my life.
Always learning. Always growing. š¤š
Appreciate @j.coophoops and @rocnationsports for having me! š
A lot of people love basketball.
But coaching and player development become deeper than the game itself.
The longer Iāve been around players, the more Iāve realized confidence, communication, patience, and belief can impact athletes just as much as the workouts.
Some of the most meaningful moments happen when the cameras are off.
A conversation after training.
A player finally believing in themselves again.
A kid feeling seen, understood, or supported.
Real coaching is influence.
Real player development is responsibility.
Basketball just happens to be the connection point. š¤

A lot of players say they want to improve⦠but only touch a basketball once or twice a week. ā¬ļø
Real development comes from consistency, repetition, and attention to detail.
The best players arenāt always doing flashy drills.
Theyāre mastering simple things over and over again.
Footwork. Pace. Timing. Balance. Decision making.
You donāt need perfect conditions to get better.
You just need consistent work.

If more players understood this, theyād earn a coachās trust a lot faster⦠ā¬ļø
Coaches notice way more than points and highlights.ā¦
Coaches are paying attention to:
* effort
* body language
* communication
* decision making
* consistency
* coachability
The little things are usually the big things when it comes to earning trust and staying on the floor.
Whatās something you think more players need to understand? šš

A lot of players think confidence means never struggling, never doubting yourself, or always feeling good.
Thatās not real confidence.
Real confidence is:
1) Trusting your preparation
2) Responding well after mistakes
3) Staying disciplined on bad days
4) Continuing to work even when shots arenāt falling
Even great players lose confidence sometimes.
The difference is they donāt let one bad game, one mistake, or one tough stretch define them.
Confidence isnāt something you magically wake up with.Itās built through repetition, preparation, consistency, and experience.
Keep showing up. The confidence will come.

Most people have the wrong idea about how pros actually train. ā¬ļø
They think itās all flashy moves, impossible shots, and endless dribble combos.
In reality, the best players in the world obsess over simple details:
footwork, balance, pace, timing, decision making, and consistency.
Pros donāt just train hard.
They train with purpose. ā¼ļø

If I could restart basketball at 10 years old, Iād focus less on flashy drills and more on the details that actually translate to games.
Footwork. Pace. Balance. Film study. Decision making. Discipline.
Real development isnāt about looking skilled.
Itās about becoming effective.
Hopefully this saves a younger player some wasted time.

Most skills training is a waste of time. ā
Not because players arenāt workingā¦
But because it doesnāt translate.
No reads.
No pressure.
No change of pace.
No contact.
Just clean reps that look good⦠and fall apart in games.
Train how you play.
Be honest⦠does your training actually translate? š

I made these mistakes so you donāt have to šš»
As a player, I worked hardā¦
but I wasnāt always working on the right things.
I trained at one speed.
I ignored the details.
I relied on motivation.
I focused on workouts instead of results.
And I didnāt fully understand the journey.
Thatās why I coach the way I do now.
Everything has intention.
Everything translates.
Everything is built for the game.
Because real development isnāt about doing moreā¦
itās about doing what actually matters. ā¤ļø
