Originally composed for Merce Cunningham’s dance piece “A Diversion,” this suite is one of Cage's most charming and whimsical compositions. It’s both humorous and enigmatic, utilizing a deceptively simple collection of pitches and giving exaggerated dynamics that can't be fully realized on the instrument.

A Winter’s Tale is a song cycle for Voice and Bass Kithara, with words by Dylan Thomas. It’s the story of a man finding redemption thru an erotic awakening amidst the first spring thaw.
I drew inspiration from the Traditional Music of England and Wales, Plygain, 13th century troubadour Adam de la Halle, and Debussy.
The program is approximately 25 minutes.
