At full throttle on the dyno, the Corvette C7 Z51 pushes a surge of boost through its turbo system, with the wastegate dumping excess exhaust straight downward. That pipe is releasing a concentrated jet of high velocity gases under significant pressure.
As boost peaks, the exhaust stream creates a strong downward force by transferring momentum into the air and surface below. The license plate sits directly in that path, where the fast moving flow and localized pressure differences press it tightly against the pavement.
It may look like heat or pure sound causing the effect, but the real driver is the kinetic energy of the exhaust jet. Vibration from the engine and pressure pulses can help, but the primary force comes from the speed and mass of the escaping gases.
