Ab(ex)traction presents the results of two years of research, supported by Dis-Tanzen and Fond der Darstellende Künste. It is a highly physical workshop primarily geared for contemporary dancers. It is built from a contemporary social theoretical “deconstruction” of ballet technique however is in no way a ballet class. It departs from aspects often deleted from contemporary dance in the effort to distinguish itself from ballet and is therefore primarily a standing workshop that explores length, turns, jumps and generally moving while not lying down.

Bio
Dwayne Holliday is a dancer, choreographer and dance scholar. After a successful career as a professional ballet dancer in international companies, he studied contemporary dance at the Center for Contemporary Dance - Cologne University of Music and Dance before working in the contemporary independent scene. He holds a master's degree in dance studies and is currently writing his PhD. His artistic works have been shown in various theaters, museums and public spaces and he has produced a number of dance films. Together with choreographer Maria Golding, he founded the temporary collective "Golding/Holliday" and in recent years has been regularly supported by grants and local and national project funding. In addition to his choreographic work, he is regularly invited to participate in various choreographic projects as a dancer, and has published articles on dance.

@dwayneholliday holt euch mit einem Impro-Tanzworkshop am Anfang ab und ist wie Klebstoff für euch. Sinne werden aktiviert und Spaß garaniert!
@blooming_jasamin übernimmt dann die Decks und führt euch langsam durch House-Einflüsse aller Welt. Sie zaubert einen Raum der Präsenz.
@kaptain.kosmo Resident Daniel Krau fährt das Tempo hoch und lässt es krachen. Technoider Sound gepaart mit einer besonderen Sensibilität für die Crowd.
@bababass3000 lebt das Motto 0% DRUGS, 111% ECSTASY und sein Sound bringt die Menge zur Eskalation. Mit seiner Partyreihe @wyldhearts_ lässt er die Trance-Kultur in Köln neu aufleben, mit Schub!

Dwayne Holliday has been practising yoga for over 21 years. Based in Cologne, Germany, he teaches workshops, festivals and teacher trainings internationally. As a young professional dancer, Dwayne lived in different cities and changed yoga styles depending on what was offered near his home. In this way Dwayne practiced Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara and Jivamukhti extensively before finding his home in the openness of Vinyasa Yoga. In addition to being a yoga teacher, Dwayne performs and creates dance pieces and films that have been shown in theatres, museums and festivals across Europe. Dwayne is fascinated by the incredible abilities of the body and the vitality we discover through movement. He sees this as something we share with all living organisms and considers movement to be one of the most wonderful things we can do.

Dwayne Holliday praktiziert Yoga seit über 21 Jahren. Von Köln aus unterrichtet er international Workshops, Festivals und Lehrerausbildungen. Als junger professioneller Tänzer lebte Dwayne in verschiedenen Städten und wechselte die Yogastile, je nachdem, was in der Nähe seines Wohnortes angeboten wurde. Auf diese Weise praktizierte Dwayne ausgiebig Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara und Jivamukhti, bevor er sein Zuhause in der Offenheit des Vinyasa Yoga fand. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Yogalehrer tritt Dwayne auf und kreiert Tanzstücke und Filme, die in Theatern, Museen und auf Festivals in ganz Europa gezeigt werden. Dwayne ist fasziniert von den unglaublichen Fähigkeiten des Körpers und der Vitalität, die wir durch Bewegung entdecken. Er sieht dies als etwas, das wir mit allen lebenden Organismen teilen und betrachtet Bewegung als eines der wunderbarsten Dinge, die wir tun können.
