Forgot to post this in IG as well, but it's still good for tomorrow - needing volunteers to help install the t-bars on the lift and a few other jobs.
I was asked by the DVBSC President to share some updates:
The team is trying to be realistic. We've put so much work into the hill and we need to be 100% ready when the decision is made to open.
We would love to open! But it's simply not ready yet. If we opened today, after the first 50 people go up the T-Bar, the dirt would be showing.
In order for the DVBSC to be operating for more than one day, we need a snow base of at least a foot. As of now:
- the hill has been rolled twice
- Wyatt has been working on the Terrain Park to build ramps to the devices. - we have only about a 4" base (it's been so cold, the dry snow doesn't compact. We need at least 8" more of nice wet snow...)
- some signage will be completed within a week (Thank you, Signarama)
Looking Ahead... Volunteers Needed This Weekend to help:
- Install T's on the T-Bar Lift - Install one more light on Brisboe's ASAP
- Resolve a few issues with the ladies washroom - Construct sandwich boards and one movable post for new signage
- Move one bracket on the handle tow
Please comment if you can help out. 10am, no set end time, both Saturday and Sunday. It would be great to wrap up these loose ends to that we can open up as soon as the snow conditions allow us to.
Randy Beckett, the DVBSC President, recognizes that the volunteers have put too much work in to open prematurely and only be open for 1 day.

Thank you to all who are reaching out, wondering if we are open. Answer: we'd love to be, but there's not quite enough snow yet!
Grooming is still picking up some earth from underneath the 7 inches of snow that is already down. All we need is more snow!
And... of course we will need volunteers to run things too. I am working on how to easily sign people up for this on the website once we know when we are open.
So stay tuned. Updates about opening day will be posted here ASAP.
My main helper and I were busy on Saturday morning helping blow up tubes! Need to get some more numbers out for these volunteer sessions though! Still some essential To Do items to get through before we can have our inspection and be cleared to open! (... and snow... much more snow!)
