Getting a quick idea out of my head. I've been 3d printing some IKEA SKADIS accessories for my organizational needs and I had a bout of inspiration. Might use this to mess around with Vizcom for some quick in context looks.

Great designers posses a natural curiosity and often it goes beyond the brief. We want to give a huge shout-out to @BOLTGROUP ’s own, D’Van Howard (@dvan_design ), who recently earned a top 10 finalist spot in Makelab 3D’s national design competition at the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) IDC conference in Detroit, MI.
Using less than 1.5 spools of filament, his LAP Stool concept was inspired by the strength of early automotive prototyping lap-joints and is able to support adult body weight. All while being designed to ship flat-pack. At BOLTGROUP, we’re continually inspired by his curiosity and passion to innovate even outside the brief! Go D’Van!

For the contest I made the assembly video with the actual stool, but I wanted to do a pass at making a rendered video. I had a different idea for this animation but my inspo didn't quite line up with the actual process so I kept it simple here.

What if I told you this stool could support your whole body weight and was only about 1 kg of filament?

This was a fun challenge I saw from @makelab3d so I thought I'd try it out. I prototyped several scale models that held my bodyweight so I had zero worries moving on to the full scale design. Luckily we just got a Bambu H2D at work so I was able to build it at a reasonable scale without having to section out pieces.

LAP - Inspired by edge lap joints in woodworking, the stool uses the strength of the assembly to support the weight of the user. The unique stance of the legs is grounded by the squarish seat of the stool to give it a elegant but friendly presence.

That moment when you sketch a cool pattern at work and the client chooses it so you have to figure out how to actually make it.
This is not the client product btw, but a similar example application showing what I had to teach myself how to do because solidworks gets fussy with an excessive amount of fillets.
