One year. In a blink of an eye, you’ve become independent, curious, silly, and brave. You’ve grown into someone I’ve known for my whole life and at the same time, have just met. You’re the best parts of your dad, and you’re sassy like your mom. You’ve experienced so much in such a short time. You watched your grandfather die, attended too many funerals, and distracted your mom from her grief as your dad distracted you with songs and games. You learned how to eat, to laugh, to sit, to crawl, and to stand. You won the hearts of everyone you met. You changed our world and made it bigger and brighter, while simultaneously forcing us to simplify and reset expectations. You are the best thing that ever happened to us, and we’re so glad to know you. Happy birthday my sweet one.

Moved to Laramie, WY awhile back. Climbed the mountains, fished the rivers and made the tough choice to leave @thetoptopstudio . Got a job helping wrangle pretty images with @brooksrunning and moved to Seattle. Last 2 years wrapped up in a couple moment-titos. Also, @the.greiff.life is almost finished with her Masters degree at the University of Wyoming and Im so proud of her ❤️
We all had a crush on her. I mean, how could you not? In 2010 @hilareenelson changed the trajectory of my life. @bobbyhpt@gavnation_station and I had just moved to Telluride and we were lucky to have Hilaree and Co take us under their wings and help us cut our teeth in backcountry skiing. One day after a ski tour in Ophir I asked Hil if I should get into guiding and she said “keep a camera in your hands, it’ll serve you better”. Those words sent me on a rocket ship. I learned how to be good at suffering, push through the uncomfortable stuff, work hard and sure enough, 8 years later I found myself at 21,000 feet drinking whiskey with her, @jimwmorrison and @nickkalisz after a successful summit and ski on Lhotse. I’m so grateful for the impact she had on my life and so many others. Love you, Hil.
Our latest project follows @vasu_sojitra and @curlsinthewild and their work towards making the outdoors accessible to everyone. Mountains are cool, but creating space in nature for folks with disabilities and folks of color is super cool.
