We are our ancestors wildest dreams. Just got back from the 10th Anniversary of the National Black Food Justice Alliance Annual Meeting @blackfoodjustice - giving thanks for all the care and compassion that has been invested in black self determination by the leadership and the fullness brought forward by every organization represented this weekend.
This years theme was Black Sanctuary. @happilynaturalfestival has been a member of the Alliance for three years now and I can’t find the words to express the deep gratitude I have for this formation. We will be here forever. More to come but meeting in Jackson Mississippi was the most resonant experience. The civil rights movement is NOT ancient history. Our people put our blood on the constitution to demand this country live up to its word. Black people MADE America literally with our blood sweat and tears. This weekend was a reminder of what work we have to do and how deeply committed we STILL are to co-creating a future where black people are thriving.
Salute to all the comrades across the globe who are strategizing and implementing visions of black liberation. Thank you to all the elders who put in work and now provide counsel and guidance as we take it forward!!
The Last Poets experience The Sankofa Community Orchard in Richmond, VA.
We were honored with a mural to be shown at a later date after completion.
It was a sacred day.
