Also, while having a discussion about politics, I realised how important it is, in the times we live in, to know what’s happening around us. It’s very, very cool to be politically aware, and it’s very “meh” to say, “I am not political.” It’s even cooler to truly understand your religion rather than just inherit it. No matter your age, no matter the day -learn. If it’s Islam, then read. Iqra -the first word of the Quran ..to read; to not simply believe what is told or fed to you, but to read and learn for yourself.
I really hope we learn to vocalise and stand on the right side of history. This is important ..very, very important. Please talk about politics and religion with the same zest as we talk about celebrity gossip, which, from a very insight view , I can tell is not more cool /woke than knowing about world affairs and how they impact us -because they do, each one of us.
Question politics. Question your surroundings. Not out of defiance, but out of a desire to be informed and thoughtful.xx
