Who is Duplex Deli? That answer starts with our founders, @vicesports and @gojonno . Two psychotic fans who turned a passion for sports and storytelling into a career. They originally linked up at VICE where they were hired to build the company’s new sports vertical. After gaining 1mm YouTube subs, launching an Emmy-nominated TV show, and creating award-winning work for brands like Nike, Apple and ESPN, they jumped off that corporate mothership (well before the bankruptcy) to start a leaner, more efficient content studio and agency: @duplex_deli .
@duplex_deli is a creative agency and full-service production company that tells the best stories in sports. We put together content strategies, come up with creative ideas, identify and shape great stories, and bring them to life with best-in-class production services. We exist to unlock the awesome power of sports on behalf of your brand or media platform.
We’re brand new but already off to the races with great projects for a variety of partners. Whether it’s chasing world-class sprinters around the world for @netflix , capturing the stories of high school soccer stars for @shutterstock , or helping folks like @flash_garrett tell their story the right way, you can count on @duplex_deli to overdeliver.
So, meet Wavelength Sports—same groundbreaking storytelling you know us for, now with bigger, better, and badder resources behind it. We’re open for business and ready to take things to the next level.
Hit us up and let’s tell great f*cking the stories that move the game forward. 🚀
We’ve spent years getting to know the incredible team at Wavelength, and when they told us about their vision for a sports vertical spanning social, YouTube, branded, and big-screen storytelling, the synergies hit like a vintage Mike Tyson hook.
🚨 BIG NEWS! 🚨
After two years of grinding as a small but mighty independent shop, Duplex Deli has been acquired by @wavelengthprods —the powerhouse behind docs like “Won’t You Be My Neighbor”, “Rather”, “Athlete A”, and “32 Sounds” (plus a 🔥 new sports series we’ll be announcing soon 👀).
You can catch We Are King streaming now on @olympics YouTube channel, and soon on @nbcsports . A huge shoutout to all of the kids and coaches who let us into their lives and our partners at @shutterstock_studios .
We Are King follows MLK on a season of ups and downs in their quest for a 20th city championship in 25 years. We followed @coachjakenyc and the kids of @mlk_nyc_soccer through after-school practices, tense matches, and the quiet moments in between. From the pitch to their homes, from the Bronx to Randall’s Island, this is a coming of age story about one of the winningest programs in the world, at any level, in any sport.
With respect to the Yankees, NYC’s greatest sports dynasty is the boy’s soccer team at Martin Luther King Jr. High School, the only public high school anywhere in the US that consistently ranks in the top 10 nationally. @mlk_nyc_soccer is comprised of immigrant and first-generation kids with roots across the globe. Their leader is @coachjakenyc , a 78-year-old recovering addict both loved and hated across the city for relentless desire to win.
First, we got to collaborate with @adobe , a brand and product that’s critical to our day-to-day work at @duplex_deli .
Second, we got to step out of our sports bag for a second. Working with @itsbennyblanco and diving into the music and food world was a reminder that storytelling transcends categories. It’s all about gettin the best out of someone, capturing their essence, and telling a story that resonates.
And third, we got to support @mariscos4vientos , an amazing family-owned restaurant in LA — and eat about a thousand of their incredible shrimp tacos in the process. Supporting local businesses and the unsung heroes that define communities is a special kind of privilege.
@duplex_deli loves sports, but we also love food, music and funny people with great outfits. So when the opportunity to partner with Grammy-winning producer and cookbook author @itsbennyblanco , you can imagine our excitement.
This is the “Create Anything with Benny Blanco and his Friends at Adobe Express” show and there are a few reasons why this project was especially fun.
