Opening May 8 - save the date and bring your friends! 2727 California Street, Berkeley. We will have some fun interactive projects and -as usual-real art by real people! Hope to see you there! #madeinberkeley #bayareaart #streetencounters #contemporanyart
Detail shots from a recently completed commission. This was a tough one, with 9 kids of different ages, sourced from several different photographs with a variety of different lighting conditions! It was definitely a learning experience but I love how it turned out--I especially love the interplay of all the little hands and feet.
I am currently accepting commissions. Prices start at $200 for a simple 6x6 painting. I am happy to work with you to find something that fits your budget (and I paint adults too, not just kids!). Please DM me to inquire.

Enjoy a sneak peek at REPAIR: An Exploration of Trauma & Healing in downtown San Rafael
Oct 10–Nov 14, 2025: Exhibition Dates
Nov 14, 5–8 pm: reception & 2nd Friday Art Walk
REPAIR: An Exploration of Trauma & Healing, an exhibition that challenges our relationship with objects in a consumerist society. Featuring works by Bay Area artists, the exhibition explores repair’s literal application, its symbolic connection to healing and trauma, and the blurred lines between utilitarian objects and artistic expression.
REPAIR will challenge visitors and collectors to reconsider the value we assign to objects. The exhibition encourages viewers to question the disposability of manufactured goods and rethink the value of visible mending and transformative repair. Artists such as Youngmi Pak and Mansur Nurullah incorporate discarded materials and textiles into their work, elevating once-disposable items into works of art, while Amanda Farrell’s mended and embroidered pieces exemplify the transformative power of repair, extending the lives of damaged goods.
The exhibition also explores repair as a metaphor for healing. Najee Strickland and Swilk use cultural objects like barbers’ chairs and wedding china to explore the emotional and physical processes of mending. Reg Estrada’s work uses tattoos to cover scars from gender-affirming surgeries, literally mending the body from both mental and physical trauma.
In addition to the artworks, the curators have planned a number of community engagement events. The opening and closing receptions will coincide with San Rafael’s monthly art walks on the second Friday of October and November. Planned events include an artists’ round table discussion, a curator tour, and a possible sashiko mending workshop led by East Bay artist Lena Wolff.
Exhibiting Artists:
Regina Estrada, Amanda Farrell, Sarah Merola, Youngmi Pak, Mansur Nurullah, Najee Strickland, Swilk
Curated:
Maria Tuttle and Kelly Dunagan

What does a curator do? Well, it varies depending on the show but one of our main responsibilities is creating the overall look of the show. Come with me for a day as I prepare the setting for a magical piece by one of our very talented artists!
We will be conducting a curator’s tour on October 24 at 12:30pm, where we’ll talk a bit about how we put the exhibition together and give insights into the work of the seven amazing artists who are showing with us.
REPAIR is at Art Works Downtown until November 14. Opening hours are Wednesday through Friday, 12-6pm.

🌟The REVEAL is here!🌟
Watch as our talented co-curator, Kelly Dunagan, carefully unwraps a powerful piece by Najee Strickland for our upcoming exhibition, "REPAIR: An Exploration of Trauma & Healing!"
Najee's installation (one of two seen here) is thought-provoking, exploring themes of barbering as connected to ancient history. Najee's work along with the work of these ground-breaking artists invites visitors and collectors to reconsider our own histories and the process of healing.
You absolutely don't want to miss experiencing this IRL!
🗓 Opening Reception: October 10th, 5-8 PM.

REPAIR curator spotlight: Kelly Dunagan and Maria Tuttle
------------------
Maria and I conceived "Repair" in 2024. The concept arose out of an interest in visible mending, which is the art of repairing textiles in a way that makes a feature of the repair. In taking something mass-produced, designed to be used and discarded, and instead turning it into a unique piece of art, visible menders offer a small rebellion against our consumerist culture. From this idea arose the question--how else are things changed or elevated through being repaired? Are broken hearts stronger when they have been mended? Can we fix our broken society through small acts of rebellion and healing?
We have gathered a dynamic group of artists in a broad range of disciplines whose work reflects and expands upon these ideas. We are so excited to show these artists together for the first time in the intimate Founders' Gallery at Art Works Downtown next month. We invite you to join us at our opening reception on Friday, October 10, from 5-8 pm as part of San Rafael's Second Fridays Art Walk to see these wonderful works in person.
