Throwback Thursday! Reminiscing on the Y5 trip to the Ragged Museum. The school was set up by Thomas Barnardo and provided free education to hundreds of children in the Victorian times. Y5 learned how the families lived, how lessons ran and most importantly how strict teachers used to be! 🧮📚

DHJS had some very special visitors. We welcomed indigenous musicians, activists and leaders, Pana and Memy Kamanawa all the way from the Noke Kuin people of the Brazilian Amazon. They shared their message from the forest about how we all have a responsibility to treat our environment and each other with respect. The then shared traditional chants sung with guitar and drums while we all got up on our feet and had a bit of a dance. Year 6 will be undertaking a fundraising afternoon later in the term to support educational initiatives in their villages. Watch this space 😊

Last half term, 6A took part in a mark making workshop at Dulwich Picture Gallery. The class were using a wide array of art supplies to create textures and patterns, mimicking how the artists behind the great works in the gallery created the textures of water, fabric and more. 6A had a fantastic time!

Year 6 had a very special visit before the half term. Iain from Mexicolore has been visiting Dulwich Hamlet for 22 years and he joined us again to talk about all things Ancient Maya. We tried on clothes, looked at ancient codices and played lots of music! @mexicolore_insta thank you for the great visit!
