i had the privilege of documenting the renovation and making of this space over the past few months. i’m showing some of the images you see here alongside an exhibition of objects fabricated from renovation scrap. hope to see you there!

took these while arriving on set for my last show of NYFW. i love taking the first 30 minutes of a shoot day to discover the location and decide how a space will shape how a viewer might understand a garment. through this approach i’ve discovered that this helps me develop multiple sets of imagery that communicate with each other as a wholistic project rather than singular images. i’m grateful for all the collaborators along the way that have given me the space and trust to create freely in this way.

the flash on the first image initially bothered me but in time i’ve come to appreciate the revealed detail of the surface texture and the corners of the window frame. the second image was taken through the sunroof.

there is something really wonderful about these. i opened the door to the roof behind nick in this to get that splash of waning sunshine. really energized at the prospect of a longer term documentation project and all the discovery that comes from that framework. learning to bend space differently in each session.
