The Nicholas School Student Council Beach Weekend returned to Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, and the Duke Marine Lab, bringing master's students together to celebrate the end of another school year!
Students enjoyed an oyster roast, trivia, touch tanks, a beach volleyball tournament, a Kentucky Derby disco party and more.

Through the Bonaventura Summer Research Fellows, Marine Lab Scholars and Climate Scholars programs, as well as Graduation with Distinction work, students gain hands-on experience in experimental design and research methods and conduct their own faculty-mentored research.

As an assistant professor of coastal and marine climate change at the Nicholas School, she teaches and mentors students working to address the climate crisis from a variety of angles.
Oceans Week at Duke recap is out!
This year featured the Blue Economy Summit, alongside a series of events focused on ocean and climate solutions. From new financial models for coastal protection to emerging blue technologies, the week underscored how ocean research is being translated into scalable, real-world impact for sustainability in the blue economy.
