When I was at #trailerblaze2025 of @shortrunseattle , I started to work on this. It’s memories of my German grandmother, who developed Alzheimer’s when I was pretty young. I didn’t quite understand it. But when I was a child, we walked together a lot. And we talked and we sang. She was the sweetest person, as far as I know, and I miss her these days. Alzheimer and dementia can be so tough and sad for families to deal with, and this story is of course, only a fragment of it all. ❤️ The story will be a little longer than this, so maybe stay tuned for more, and there will probably be a little zine version of this eventually. 🍃 This excerpt was published in our lovely Trailer Blaze anthology zine. - First time I tried to edit a reel, so sorry for any wonkiness in the timing. 🪾#watercolor #graphicessay

“Im Anderswo“ – Exhibition with a reading by Alexandra Rügler ✨🛰️ 🗓️ 25.04.–4.05.25: Exhibition • Ausstellung 25.04. ab 19:00: Vernissage and reading • Vernissage und Lesung 📍 StudioTrouble™ Manteuffelstraße 73 10999 Berlin 💫 What does it mean to come from somewhere? Does your origin determine who you are? And if your home changes without you—can you ever really return home? “Im Anderswo” tells stories about rootlessness, loss, impermanence, belonging and home. Using comic-journalistic approaches, real experiences are captured in a literary framework, emphasising the power of storytelling as well as how it shapes our memories, morals and the how we see our lives. The comic is set in the US Midwest, South Korea and Berlin, among other places. It explores migration, diaspora, identity and home as some of the most important issues of our time. The reading will be in English. Accessibility: the studio is located on the ground floor with one step at the entrance. The WC is not wheelchair-accessible. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
