BABA YAGA
Beyond fairy tales - we’re exploring the true roots of Slavic folklore through Andreas Johns’ research.
The Liminal Threshold
Like our work on Brzeginie, this project focuses on boundary beings. We are deep-diving into these archetypes (thick books, endless fascinating knowledge!) to ensure our art has a solid foundation.
A Lineage of Wisdom
A visual journey through generations: from great-granddaughter to great-grandmother. We’re capturing an archaic power that "defies classification."

A NEW season is here 🍂 but we still look back fondly on the summer that’s gone.
In June, July & August we created three folk-horror-eco miniatures – our summer trilogy in YouTube.
Here’s a taste from Leszy 🌲✨
LESHY – a Slavic postcard –
In Slavic folk beliefs, the forest was more than nature – it was sacred space, home to spirits and supernatural forces.
One of its most important beings was the Leshy (also known as Boruta, Laskowiec, or the Wolf Shepherd) – guardian and ruler of the forest and its animals.
The Leshy reflects an animistic view of nature – a spirit embodying the wild, ever-changing and deeply connected to the land.
He could shift size depending on the trees, take the form of animals (wolf, bear, owl, deer) or the wind, and mimic forest sounds to trick or guide wanderers.
Neither good nor evil, the Leshy punished those who disrespected the forest but sometimes helped lost souls.
Hunters and woodcutters would leave offerings to earn his favor – a ritual way of asking permission to enter and use the forest.
The Leshy lived in Slavic folklore into the 19th century – in one legend, he even helps a deserter from the Tsar’s army, showing his more human, protective side.
This figure reminds us of an old Slavic truth: nature is not something to conquer, but a world full of spirit – a place to approach with respect and humility.

WITCHLINGS 🎬✨ Check out my non-commercial experiments - live set + AI with my amazing students from @Warsaw Film School, Alicja Armata, Nilufar Nazarova, and Michalina Dooda. Doesn't it sound like something out of The Witcher? 🧙♂️ Or perhaps a tale of three sisters - a Tatar, a Viking, and a Slav? 🌟
