Pippa’s life changed forever when she was adopted by her parents, Crystal and Jessica, with the help of her Wendy’s Wonderful Kids adoption recruiter, Nikki 💕 Nikki provided support to Crystal and Jessica while advocating for Pippa at every turn to minimize the disruptions she would experience before the adoption was finalized.
After years of uncertainty and turmoil, Pippa was initially reserved, but with love, patience and time, she began to open up and is now thriving in her forever home 🥰 In spite of her numerous medical challenges, she has become much more active, participating in school plays, learning to kayak and playing with the family dogs.
“Pippa is warm and sunshine. She just beams. She radiates happiness and love,” shared her mom, Crystal. “You can’t contain the joy in Pippa.”

For the past 5 years, foster care has changed our family in ways I never could have imagined. Through foster care, adoption and biology, our home has grown, and so has my heart. Teens, especially, have a special place in it. They make up so many of the kids still waiting, along with sibling groups who just want to stay together.
Right now, more than 100,000 children in the U.S. are waiting to be adopted from foster care. These are kids who can’t safely return home and need someone willing to step in and say, “You belong here.”
This National Foster Care Month, I’m partnering with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (@dtfa ) to share why this matters so much. They’ve helped more than 15,000 children find adoptive families across the U.S. and Canada but there are still so many waiting.
Every single day, more than 50 youth age out of the system without a permanent family. That reality is hard to sit with, and it’s why this work matters.
Follow @dtfa and check out the link in my bio to learn how you can be part of the story for a waiting child. Even small steps can make a lasting difference.

Some people may think that teenagers don’t need the support of a permanent family because they’re nearing adulthood, but you are never too old for family 💗
“Permanency guarantees tomorrow for a young person in foster care,” Wendy’s Wonderful Kids adoption recruiter, RJ, explains. “When we have adoption or guardianship, in your darkest and brightest moments, this is always going to be your family.”
Learn how RJ advocated for CJ, a teenager who had been waiting in foster care for eight years, and helped him achieve permanency through legal guardianship. Visit the link in our bio to read the entire story.
We’re grateful for our continued partnership with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the opportunity to gather with recruiters and professionals from across the country.
This year was especially exciting because it was the first time our post-permanency team was able to attend as well. It was a valuable experience connecting with others, learning from different states, and sharing ideas that help better support youth and families. 💙
This Monthly Giving Awareness Week, we’re shining a spotlight on our Circle of Support ✨
This is a special community of dedicated donors who are committed to advancing the Foundation’s mission through ongoing, monthly gifts 🎁
The impact of monthly gifts cannot be overstated. They are the most reliable source of support for our mission, and we are so grateful to the many families and individuals who give year-round, allowing us to plan and fuel our work.

Employer-provided adoption benefits made a huge difference for NFI employee Andy who always knew he wanted to grow his family through adoption. As an adoptee himself, Andy understands firsthand the impact adoption can have on a child’s life❣️The adoption process of his son, AJ, took longer than originally expected, and costs began to stack up along the way. The financial resources and paid leave provided by his employer helped offset some of these challenges.
Today, AJ is in his junior year of high school. Andy is grateful to be by AJ’s side through life’s journey and for NFI’s support that helped make their family possible. Andy shared that for him, adoption benefits are more than policy — they’re personal 💗
Thank you, @lifeatnfi , for helping to make stories like Andy’s possible.

Right now, more than 100,000 children are waiting to be adopted from foster care in the U.S. In these cases, a judge has ruled it’s not safe for them to return home, and these youth need someone to step forward to adopt them.
I’m partnering with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption @dtfa during National Foster Care Month to share about the urgent need for foster care adoption and how they are working to be a part of the solution.
In fact, more than 15,000 children have been adopted through the Foundation’s program across the U.S. and Canada. But there’s more work to be done. Every day, more than 50 kids age out, and the Foundation won’t stop until they realize their vision of a permanent home and a loving family for every child.
Follow @dtfa to learn more about how you can help. Even if you can’t adopt, everyone can make a difference in the life of a waiting child. Visit the link in my bio to learn how.
