The FULL look and credit, where credit is due below. I must say I have some of the most amazing friends/family on this side of Earth. To say everything that could’ve went wrong ahead of my flight, is an understatement but God sure has a way of reminding us of his covering & how our humility towards others will always be reciprocated. Fabric for my dress was cancelled hours before it was to be delivered. So, I had to find the nearest fabric shop to get material, then drop it off to my seamstress, in hopes she could make the train in a 3hr window before my flight. Hair Stylist- unexpectedly cancelled on me hours before my flight & I legitimately looked like Celie scrambling to find a stylist but God. Thankfully I have a host of Sisters/Friends that are some of the best business owners/hair stylists in the Tri-State area, so it only took one phone call at 6pm. For my Sister to leave her home, clear her schedule and open up her shop, JUST to do my hair, it was the purest form of showing “Love is what love does”. When I arrived at the shop & was explaining to my Sister what took place @buttahhhhhh was on FaceTime & she interjected & said something so profound.. she said “D, that’s why you don’t get a stylist, you get/have a beautician” & I said facts because there’s a bond, admiration and respect that’s built overtime there that’s unmatched. So, to my beautician/sister/friend of over 25+yrs, @reginajames_freedom THANK YOU for getting me right for the Red Carpet. You’re simply one of a kind🖤. Just a beautiful Black girl born and raised in ENY Brooklyn that beat many odds, statistics and managed to RISE and grow into a C-Suite Executive at Ad Age’s 2025 Agency of the Year!!! There’s such significance to 2025, as it took me 20yrs with no unearned privilege, no cutting corners, no mentorship, no shortcuts, no underhandedness but simply Gods favor & a mixture of being resourceful, super hungry & humble is what got me to this very point. Always remember to be your biggest advocate!!! Proof that if I can do it, SO CAN YOU!! Wishing my incredibly gorgeous Mother @ddsmalls7 an amazing 72nd birthday. Yes… 72!!!! I mean…. God has certainly smiled on you!!! Seeing as you just came back from a Mediterranean cruise and have been to Italy, Rome, Turkey and Greece, not much more traveling I can do to top that lol.
