Come spend a day with me charging the furnace and working at @the_studio_and_co
Over the day I did 5/15 kgs charges and spent time cleaning, organising, and working on a few projects. Coffee in the morning from my faves at @milkbarmelb , gorgeous hot cross buns from gorgeous Ilona @peek_garden and a delicious lunch from @derril_____ all three are always keeping me fed and caffeinated ☕️
I spent the afternoon working on some admin in @life_work_lw while @juliehamilton200 and @emmadavies.art discussed some ideas…
and then honestly forgot I was filming for the rest of the day! 🫠 last two clips are the pot full of glass and a tidy studio in the morning 🔥
My relationship to social media and my phone in general has been weird for a while but I’m going to endeavour to change that for the better and share a bit more about the wonderful place I’m working and the beautiful people I get to work with 🌸
Leisa wasnt around this day but it wouldn’t be possible without all the amazing things her and Nadia have accomplished individually and together at @the_studio_and_co

“ I just wrapped up the final session with an incredible group of artists who decided to take charge of their own success and showed up every week to level up their financial literacy. Honestly, this has been one of the most rewarding groups I’ve ever taught. “

For the past six months, Leisa has been joined in the hot shop by glassblower @dsimonec Having an extra set of skilled hands means Leisa can take on more intricate designs and work more efficiently. While production has grown, the process remains rooted in integrity. Each piece is still handmade with the same care and intention.

Heading back to Melbourne in a few days with a new sister in my life…! 💚 It was such a privilege to be present for my brothers wedding and to witness such a beautiful union, celebrating with family and friends from near and far. These are just a few pics from the wedding day and rehearsal dinner. More to come!

SOOOO excited for Love Magic exhibition opening and book launch tonight at @unassigned_gallery curated by @spaces.of.play and @nour.com.au
Swipe to see artists participating and details / process images of my piece ‘Threshold’
The piece was made from a space of curiosity and play in response to the themes and prompts for the exhibition - this approach was fostered by a few lovely mornings spent at Art Club with Don making collage, and the final result feels like a sculptural collage of different motifs in my work.
Glass, plastic murrine, hot glue, foam, epoxy
Each material and manipulation telling a story on their own, together weaving a new narrative.
I don’t talk much about ‘love’ on socials and I have not been very lucky in the traditional romantic sense of the word - however I am blessed with the amount of love in my life and feel it’s important to reflect the spectrum of emotion tied to one four letter word.
Can’t wait to see everyone else’s pieces and hope you’ll come check out the show while it’s up ❤️
All my love
Dropping off ‘Threshold’ for LoveMagic show at @unassigned_gallery in a couple weeks and actually feeling.. excited about a piece I’ve made?! I’ll share more details soon, in the mean time, lots happening behind the scenes, a lot of change (I strongly dislike change 😆) but leaning into new rhythms and finding lots of joy in new community and new spaces ❤️
🔥 Today’s adventure in the Hot Shop with @debbiemackenzieartist and Rie @chookleaf ! Huge thanks to @dsimonec for an incredible glass-blowing workshop - what a blast (and a little bit of a sweat)! Our creations may not make it into the next exhibition, but art is all about the journey! Can’t wait to share the results! 🔥 #HotGlass #MoltenMagic #GlassBlowingWorkshop #HotGlassClass - For all Hot Glass Workshops follow @leisa_wharington and @the_studio_and_co
Crazy few months between holidays, moving house, Ausglass in Tasmania, settling into a new job, and lots of skies 🌅
Thankful for trusting my gut through a really tough couple years, extra grateful for where I’ve landed and what’s yet to come ✨

This week on Radio Architecture we welcome DANIELLE COLON to the @radiocarrum studio for the final broadcast of 2024!
Danielle Colón (@dsimonec ) is a multi-disciplinary emerging artist from Atlanta, GA, currently living and working in Melbourne, AU. She earned her BFA in Painting from Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL, in 2015. During her studies, she was introduced to glassblowing, and has been working professionally in the field for over ten years. Glass related travels eventually brought her to Melbourne in late 2019. In 2022, she completed a Master of Creative Arts at Deakin University, generating a body of work which explored the relationship between art and craft. Recently Danielle has been adapting ancient glass techniques with single use plastics to create objects which challenge notions of value.
Join @razbash_ and @dsimonec this wednesday night 7-8pm AEDST live on @radiocarrum !
