One supporter of #dsibook was @sappinorthamerica . We were honored to receive one of their Ideas that Matter grants in 2019. The competition is back on and applications are due on January 14, 2022. See below for more information about this year’s application process and apply on their website: /sappi-ideas-that-matter. . . . . . Sappi has made the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) an integral part of our business. So, we’re inviting Ideas that Matter participants to create projects that also connect with one of the UN’s 17 goals that are a call for action for countries to help our planet prosper for generations to come. Check out more information on each of the SDGs, and in your application, align your project with at least one of these important goals. #dsi #design #designforsocialinnovation #sappi #sappiideasthatmatter

The interactive globe on dsibook.com allows you to locate and see details from each project in the book. Share any #dsi projects from any community, culture, or country that shows designers creating impact. #dsibook #dsi #design #designforsocialinnovation

The book's website (dsibook.com) was designed by Brendan Griffiths and Yifu Zhang. It features the book’s open-sourced introduction, an interactive globe that allows you to see each of the book’s projects in their respective locations, a list of every contributor and advisor, and “flower” generator that’s powered by #processing and allows you to create (and download) a graphic that visualizes the details of your #dsi project (or one you know of). #dsibook #designforsocialinnovation #design

The same data that we used to create the Flower Diagrams also helped us see similarities and differences between the 45 projects. Here’s some of that data. All of this is captured in the Introduction of the book, which is open-sourced on the book's website. #dsibook #dsi #designforsocialinnovation

The 45 case studies in this book include details about the teams behind each project, how they were funded, the form or medium they took, among other details. This gave us a better sense of how sustainable these projects can be and their impact. Some of these details make up “Flower Diagrams” that @twopoints designed. #dsibook #dsi #designforsocialinnovation
