Behind the Scenes: Lighting a Commercial as a Solo Filmmaker
Shooting a commercial solo can be a challenge, but with the right lighting setup, you can create a professional, cinematic look without a large crew. Here’s how I lit this project:
Simulated Window Light: I used a A gobo adapter to shape or control light by projecting patterns to mimic natural sunlight pouring through a window. This created a beautiful, realistic ambiance as my main light source.
Rim Light: Positioned behind the subject, this light added separation from the background, giving the scene depth and a polished, professional feel.
Key Light: Carefully placed to shape the subject’s face and bring focus to the storytelling.
With just these three lights, I achieved a dynamic and visually engaging look that elevated the entire project.
