One of my favorite things with making sample packs has been diving into new sounds and trying to figure out how to work them into samples in ways that still feels authentic to me. At the end of last year, I explored modular synths and granular synthesis a bit (something I knew literally nothing about), and this sample pack was the result of it - my attempt at making music in the “Botanica” genre that so many other amazing producers have been pioneering.
I had a blast trying to create music using synthesizers, guitars, percussion, and the weirdest bleep bloops and click noises I could make. Huge thank you as always to @skitkomorebi for the support and inspiration, and thanks Splice for featuring the pack on the front page!
Genuinely, when people reach out and say they enjoy any of my samples, that is the biggest compliment they could give, because it’s stuff I’m making that aligns with my own taste. TLDR I have a new sample pack out today on Splice called “Relics: Drykyle’s Dream Tapes” 🗿📼 460 samples (319 loops, 141 one shots) of R&B / Pop / Hyperpop / genreless ideas
At the beginning of the year, I took a break from doing sessions to spend more time diving into making weird or interesting sounds that I thought were inspiring to me on a personal level. I ended up getting into recording instruments to tape machines and digital cameras, and decided to make a sample pack of the little ideas that I made.
I included guitar in this pack, but also really challenged myself to make keys ideas, vocals, and drums from scratch so I could smash them through tape to see what I came up with. I’m super proud of what I made, and feel like I kind of ended up in a somewhat genre-agnostic place that I feel really represents the kinds of sounds I was inspired by this year ☺️✌️
