The only thing I’ve ever been given in life is talent. And with so much talent came 30x’s the amount of oppositions. I never complained about my position. I actually get talked about for being stoic. I’ve never tried to be a perfect or a nice person. I’ve always been real. Real is what life gave me. It’s the only thing I see in the mirror. I’ve never had a glamorous life, even though the stars were aligned in my favor in most areas. I’m attractive, talented, educated, and humble. I worked for everything tirelessly. It’s apart of me. So when you watch Saba’s tiny desk video and you hear “ And we have Brandon on the drums……”
Know Brandon is an action word. I’ll never reveal all through words what I’ve been through because it’s never about people’s reactions or belief. It’s about knowing who you are. The thing about me is I’ve always known who I am. What I learned is that I’m not what I look like. I’m not what people expect from me. That’s why Brandon can’t be just a name when you’re address me. And not to say I’m the first. But we’re a dying breed, an endangered species lol. Being a Brandon means to make it happen while never giving up who you are. I hated my name for years. But I give my name meaning through my actions. So when you address me, you now know what you’re saying. I hope you feel that energy.

Anyway, the acoustics in the spot are incredible and the production team is chilled.
I can get a bit quirky behind the mic as I figure some stuff out in my head on the spot, so I never feel that comfortable in the studio if there is a hint of pressure cause then when it comes out it just comes out. You know what I mean?
