The EPM 3 part series with @bennygreb was the most ambitious podcast I have ever created. It is also my favorite work to date and something that I feel incredibly fortunate and grateful for. In 30 years from now when Iām an old man, I will look back on this as a stellar and rare time to use my creativity and to have connected with Benny. These are the precious moments that I always wanted to experience since creating podcasts. I rank this as among the greatest projects Iāve ever worked on. I cannot recommend his book Effective Practicing For Musicians enough and I see this as something that will be by my side as a companion to my journey with music. So this morning Iām setting up my gear getting ready to record a chat with George Kollias and my phone starts ringing. It says Dennis Chambers. So, I answer it and we had a fun chat about his astounding drum, guitar and bass collection...I was just giggling the whole time. I mean a Tony Williams kit, Jaco bass, Holdsworth guitar and that is just a bit of it. That was surreal. But what a lovely person man. He instantly made me feel comfortable and it was like talking to an old pal. We set something up for this Thursday but itās gonna be a bit different than usual. Iām gonna record our phone call. No Zoom or Skype. Just a regular phone call. I donāt think Iām gonna prep anything Iām just gonna call him up and shoot the shit with him. I already know a lot about his career. Iāve been a huge fan of him since I was a kid man. I still know where I was when I first heard his name. High school grade 9 music class. I am so lucky to have this sort of thing happen to me. Billy was a brawler with finesse on those drums. He had it all. He was so brave. Taking chances all the time. His single stroke tom rolls are my favorite to this day. Just incredible stuff.
