In 2025 a school that has sent 100% of majority black and latin students from poor neighborhoods to a 4 year college is now getting denied in my hometown. They’ll open weed stores, liquor stores and Dunkin’s before allowing a Capital Prep school that successfully educates black children to open… something’s wrong here. @nbcconnecticut @wfsbnews @wtnh8 @middletownpress @fox61news @capitalprepmiddletown #connecticut #blackparents #educationmatters #middletown

Education Inequality is rampant in America and Connecticut is the worst in the country. Middletown needs Capital Prep that gets 100% of its graduates accepted to 4-year colleges. We need your help… if you’re against racial education inequality in America then please share so this can get national attention. @nbcconnecticut @wfsbnews @wtnh8 @fox61news @foxnews

We must uphold the right for all our children to have access to a quality education no matter their zip code. #EducationForAIl #EndTheSchoolToPrisonPipeline #InvestinPublicSchools #QualityEducationForAll

How can our State Senator claim to be an ally while denying our children access to a quality education? Capital Prep Middletown was ranked the #1 approved charter school opportunity, yet it’s still being blocked from opening. If we say we stand for equity, opportunity, and our children’s future, our actions should reflect that. #educationmatters #schoolchoice #education #connecticut

Roland Martin will be at Cross Street AME Church in Middletown, CT tomorrow at 5 PM. They are trying to silence the voices of African American communities and block a school that would provide quality education in a community that needs it. No matter where you’re from, your background, creed, or religion—if we don’t stand up now, when will we? Don’t meet us there. Beat us there. #middletown #connecticut #rolandmartin #politics #schoolchoice

Honored to be part of an important conversation with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities focused on equity, opportunity, and strengthening our communities. Grateful for the invitation and the continued work being done to move these conversations forward. #educationmatters #education #civilopportunities

Any time we talk about opening real opportunities for Black children to access equal, high quality education, there always seems to be a problem and a reason to say no. Now, 60 years later, we are watching the same playbook, as the state refuses to fund Capital Prep Middletown, a school in a proven network that has achieved a 100% college acceptance rate for its graduates for the past 20 years. For two years, Capital Prep Middletown has been fully approved as a charter school, with money initially set aside in the state budget, only to have that funding pulled at the last minute, leaving the school unfunded. This is despite Capital Prep’s track record across its network of ensuring that every graduating scholar has been accepted into a four year college since its first graduating class in 2006. In a state that ranks near the bottom nationally for racial equality in education, decisions like this only deepen long standing inequities rather than close them. Denying funding to a school specifically designed to serve vulnerable students and consistently send them to college is not about capacity or performance, it is about values. #equity #connecticut #blackparents
