Subversion (noun)
The act or process of undermining, challenging, or overturning established systems, norms, beliefs, or authorities—often from within. Subversion can be subtle or overt, operating through disruption, critique, irony, or contextualization to expose hidden power structures or assumptions and create space for alternative perspectives.
In cultural and artistic contexts, subversion refers to practices that question dominant narratives and resist conventional forms or meanings rather than reinforcing them.
Subversion is an art exhibition that explores the power of resistance, disruption, and reimagining within contemporary culture. Bringing together works across diverse media, the show examines how artists challenge dominant narratives, destabilize traditional forms, and question systems of authority that shape social, political, and personal realities. Some works confront viewers directly, while others operate quietly, inviting slow reflection and critical engagement.
The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is a non-partisan nonprofit that defends and preserves individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, working through litigation, lobbying, and public education to protect freedoms like speech, privacy, equality, and due process for everyone. They challenge government overreach, advocate for marginalized groups (LGBTQ+, people of color, immigrants, etc.), reform the criminal justice system, and ensure voting rights, operating in all states and Puerto Rico.
Proceeds will be going to ACLU.
