Brighton Dam Azalea Garden in Brookeville just hit peak bloom and we’re talking 22,000 azalea bushes across 5 acres of hardwood forest. It’s completely free, it’s stunning, and it only lasts a few weeks.
Here’s everything you need to know before you go 👇
🗓 When to go: NOW through early May. Peak bloom is expected May 2–9 so this weekend and next week are your window.
⏰ Best time of day: Weekdays between 8am and 11am. Less crowded and the light is gorgeous for photos.
🚗 Parking heads up: Get there early or you’ll find yourself parking on the side of the road. It gets packed fast on weekends. There’s a visitor center with parking right across from the garden entrance.
📸 No photo permit required for personal visits. Just show up and shoot. No drones allowed (my aerials were captured when they were allowed).
🐦 Bonus: Keep an eye out for Baltimore Orioles. They’ve been spotted in the tall trees during bloom season.
🐾 No pets allowed. Leave your dog at home on this one.
